Living in the western "rich" world we are spoiled and don't understand harships! Agree?
by Witness 007 injust saw a documentary on bolivia how a woman gets up while it's dark, puts a barrel on her head and walks 10 miles to get water for the day from a filthy well we would not swim in!....thats what 1 billion or more people have to do everyday!
they also scavenge for a hand full of rice or dirty flour...meanwhile, i buy 4 litre "springwater" and run down to the supermarket to pick what fruit, vegetables, meat, i want to eat today.. our kids want nike shoes and ps 3 while there kids need food and medicine.....and clean water!
i jump in a nice car and complain about petrol prices, while they walk many miles a day to work and home......i think we are lucky but don't know it, just born on the good side of the world.. agree?.

We complain if we drive a 5 year old car, or don't have a Blu-Ray player yet. Yep we don't know the real meaning of hardship.

What do you make of the Alpha Course?
by boyzone ini've recently been invited to attend an alpha course at my local baptist church and for the last 2 weeks i've gone along.
its all been very amiable and pleasant until this week.
the subject was "why and how should i pray?

Besty - I was agreeing with your point. A point which is made very well in the God Delusion. If Jesus really is the Way and the Life why has he allowed the majority of the world to develop cultures that don't involve him? A bit unfair if you are born into a Muslim or Budhist culture.
Is that clear enough?

Do you think ex Jehovah's Witnesses make better people?
by kriptonian7 ini am new to this forum and i just stumbled upon it and have been intrigued with the comments and experiences.
i have not been envolved for a long time now but my entire family is still is.
grandparents, mother, my step dad, and my entire family on my grandmothers side.. but most everyone here, from what i have noticed, has strengthened my belief that if you were a jw at one point, you now are a stronger and better person for it.

After I left the chemical Industry I made a good living through the sales and presentation skills taught to me by being Witness. I probably would have never considered selling as a career if I didn't gain the confidence through my Theocratic training. But I probably would have not spent my life living in fear of displeasing a false god and dealing with the associated stress and anxiety either.

It seems a shame that the majority of Earth's population are never going to know Jesus because of the embedded culture handed down thorugh the generations. Prof Steven Dawkins makes an Excellent point!

How could a Disc Jockey be a JW in good standing?
Maybe he only plays Kingdom Melodies and "clean" songs.
The whole idea of being a DJ goes against the principle of not attending discos or night clubs. Most DJ work is for Birthday parties and wedding receptions. Come to think of it it is a profession where he could come into proximity with lots of children......that's worrying.
