  Just curious...how did you find Jehovah's Witness Net?

  the influx of new posters made me wonder if the push to view jw.org is helping curious ones find this support site?.

  please post whether you found jwn during an internet search or if someone told you about it.. i myself was directed here by a df'd family member once i shared my doubts with that person..

  I first found it when researching for a public talk, realised it was the dwelling place of demunz and quickly closed the window.

  The next time was after the Asian tsunami in 2005 when I was somewhat disturbed by the the letter the elders recieved about telling the congregations to contrinute to the worldwide work. Again I quickly closed it.

  Then 2009 when I realised that the rest of the body of elders I was serving on were a bunch of self-serving hypocrites I found it again read some the post pertaining to the issue I was facing and the rest is history.

  i thought it was high time to introduce myself (without my name of course).

  as my name would suggest i have been reading your intriguing post, thoughts and discussions for some time now.

  around 3/4 months to be exact.. i guess to start with it would seem fitting to give a little background on my current situation.. i'm a born-in, but have over the last few years found that through a number of varying occurences, (some of which i may discuss in future posts) that my 'zeal' has gone from regular field service and meetings to no service in over a year and very sporadic meeting attendance.

  scientist and atheist richard dawkins has admitted he does celebrate christmas - and enjoys singing traditional christmas carols each festive season.. the writer and evolutionary biologist told singer jarvis cocker that he happily wishes everyone a merry christmas - and used to have a tree when his daughter was younger.. dawkins, one of the most famous atheists in the world, was interviewed by sheffield born cocker when he stepped in as a christmas guest editor on radio four's today programme.. 'i am perfectly happy on christmas day to say merry christmas to everybody,' dawkins said.

  Time off work with friends and family, eating and drinking - why wouldn't I celebrate? If there was an international day for celebrating the birth of Harry Potter I would join in.

  i am 46 and have been a jw for only 6 years.

  i was doing ok until about a month ago.

  we were having an international convention and i heard the brother that had to pick up 2 of the members of the governing body had to get a background check done on him and his wife.

  this always bothered me.. so the dust finally settles and your glad your still alive, so the first thing you do is phone your family and friends to see if their ok. no signal.

  ok i'll drive to the kingdom hell to find out what to do.

  driving past all the dead bodies you realise your almost out of petrol, stop at the garage cannot get fuel as there is no power.

  Have you reconnected with ex-JW's after you have left the Borg?

  after reading from another thread, i felt it was worth asking this question.. if you left the borg on your own, have you attempted to meet others whom you used to be connected with while you were "in", but who have also become ex-jw's before or after you have left the wts?

  if that's the case, has it remained a friendship, or the connection grew cold?

  just curious as to what keeps friendships "stick" [or not] once you no longer have the borg's doctrinal glue.. your experiences are welcome.. eden.

  I have reconnected with quite a few. Sadly not all the friendships last which for me included my best man and friend from childhood who was DF'd many years before I exited. He still believes that JW's have the truth he just can't live up to their standards.

  apparently, the carvakas in anceint hinduism were materialists and skeptics, arguing that consciousness ends with the death of the body and that therefore we should take pleasure in this life while we possess it and practice compassion toward others.

  they also argued that direct observation is the only certain way to know anything, and thus the existence of supernatural forces and realities cannot be established and must be rejected.
