A big hello and thank you
by iwasblind ini just wanted to introduce myself and say a big hello to all of my mentally diseased friends.. i say friends because i have been lurking for some time so it feels like home (us lurkers are a bit scared and cautious so it takes a while).
i won't bore you with too many details, but i am a born in, currently serving as the cobe of a congregation.
my wife and i have pioneered for the last 10 years and were shaken awake by that ridiculous 15th july 2013 wt about the generation and 1914.. my wife who is much smarter than me has questioned for years.

Book Burning and other burning of materials done by JW. Any experiences Please post
by adjusted knowledge inas a very young child i have memories of several book burnings done by jw families.
it wasn't something arranged by the congregation, but elders did participate in it.
it was actually scary for me as a child of only about 8 years old.

If They Stopped Shunning Tomorrow?
by cofty inimagine that the cult decided to stop shunning family members on the proviso that the dfd person was not actively trying to attack the cult.. (please don't debate whether or not this is likely - it's hypothetical).
how would you respond to your family?.
personally i think i would be less than cooperative.

I have given myself some time to ponder on this question. The answer.....
I don't think I could ever have a close relationship with an active, true believing witness, or rather they wouldn't want one with me as I question everything and ridicule silly ideas - they wouldn't like that!!

Mormon And JW Funerals Seem To Be Quite Similiar
by Bangalore injust came across this thread on a ex mormon board regarding funerals.
apparently mormons too use funerals as opportunities to market their religion.. http://exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,35532,35622.

I love this comment
Funerals provide an important opportunity to teach the gospel and testify of the plan of salvation. They also provide an opportunity to pay tribute to the deceased. However, such tributes should not dominate a funeral service. Having large numbers of people share tributes or memories can make a funeral too long and may be inappropriate for a Church service. If family members want an extended time to share such memories, they may consider doing so in a special family gathering, separate from the funeral service."
THAT'S WHAT A FUNERAL SERVICE IS FOR! REMEMBERING THE DECEASED! IT'S NOT "inappropriate for a Church service." PROSELYTIZING IS INAPPROPRIATE FOR A FUNERAL SERVICE!!!! STUPID STUPID CULT!!!Just like the JW service

As a devout pastafarian these types of articles are so encouraging.
Today I attended an important football (soccer) match (Southampton v Aston Villa), I prayed to the FSM and my team beat Aston Villa 6 - 1. Sadio Mane (a Southampton player) scored the fastest ever hat trick in the Premier League. Is that not proof of his existence?

Rumor about the Imitate Jesus Convention
by FusionTheism ini saw a rumor a few weeks ago on reddit that the new imitate jesus convention is supposed to present new light and clarified understandings on the disfellowshipping/disassociation practices.. supposedly, if this rumor has any truth to it, there will be a talk given at the convention about how we should not be strict like the pharisees in how we shun people, loosening up some of the jw rules about this practice.. has anyone here heard anything about this or have more info on it?.

Watch out! The lactose intolerance policy May be coming
by FatherFirst inwhen i was a teen i had back surgery that could have easily gone bad because of the no blood policy, so it's always been of particular intrest to me.
i was just thinking to myself, not only do human mothers have white blood cells in their breast milk but so does nearly every other mammal on our planet.
so that would mean for one, god "intelligently designed" us, and every other mammal to literally feed on our mothers blood in the beginning of life for sustenance, only to make the use of blood sinful when it comes to saving not just sustaining our life later on.
