God - that's a real blast from the past. Thanks for reminding me of it!

Does Anyone remember "Nemesis" by Shriekback?
by lepermessiah intime for an obscure 80's classic..... i heard nemesis on sirius the other day and had to run out and get the album (oil and gold) again.. i think it came out around 1985, and it has some incredibly bizzare (and cool) lyrics.. all i know is that any song which contains the word "parthenogenesis" in the chorus and manages to rhyme it is quite an achievement!!.
it also features the singer claire torry (who sang on the dark side of the moon album) singing at frequencies that could break glass .
the video is pretty wild too!.

Cantleave went to the meeting last night
by cantleave ini have attended just a handful of meetings over the 2 months.
i went yesterday, because i had an assignment and i really wanted to see my mate talk about masturbation from the platform, knowing he would be very uncomfortable about it!!!!.
anyway after the meeting i was approached by the cobe.

So you go home after the service meeting...
by Mickey mouse in...kick off your shoes and stick the tv on when the phone rings.. who else has said "who's been disfellowshipped now?".
any time any of our family in other congregations phone after a meeting it's usually to spread bad tidings..

Yep. It's strange that one the questions always asked to someone you haven't seen for a while is "how's things in your congregation?", which actually means "who's been disfellowshipped or died?"

The Boring Life Of A Jehovah's Witness
by minimus inwhen you think back at how boring being a witness was, it's amazing that we lasted as long as we did.. i hear jws get sooo excited when they leave a tract with a person!
a stupid little tract!
or if a witness was asked to come into the same car that the circuit overseer was in, it would be considered such a "privilege".

When the most exciting thing in life is playing Kingdumb Maladies on your acoustic guitar, or going to a Barn Dance that finishes at 7pm, you know you need to get a real life.

Beard stories. Nothing but beards.
by Open mind ini've done a jwn search on beards and had some great reads.. i've learned the history of russell vs. rutherford and knorr and the hippies.. here's what i'd like to hear about.. either you or someone you know who grew a beard and the fallout because of it.. for me, i'd love to hear about the squeaky clean elder who decided to grow a beard and got removed because of it.. katie kitten, from england, on another thread told the story of her dad, the squeaky clean elder who grew a beard in the 70's and got away with it.. i don't think that would happen in california 2009.. anyway, what are your beard stories?.
i'm all ears.
(and my ears are freshly plucked.

Judicial Committees - "Works Beffitting Repentance"
by xelder ina couple years ago the cos and dos were pushing a letter at elders meetings about being more critical of so-called repentant wrongdoers and being tougher on such claims.
do their recent works prove it.
don't just believe tears.

JC's for GB, now that's an idea. How about marking talks for CO's who do their own thing and disseminate their pet ideas. There is so much hypocrisy in this organisation. Noone can tell if someone is truly repentant or not, I have been on quite a few JC's and believe I have pretty good judgement, but I still don't have the ability to "read hearts" ..............ohh yeah only God can do that

I have started to throw out the bound volumes, told my missus we don't need them since we get the WT Library, and they take up too much room. I put a couple in the recycle bin every time it is collected by the council.

Typical sentiments by CO's. Our CO went on about the Led Zepp (when they had the reunion gig at the O2) at a circuit assembly. He wittered on about their links to demonism and allegiance to the Devil.
All I can say to statements like that is the Devil has the best music, who wants to listen to the KIngdumb Maladies
