putting this out there.....going back 12months ago i was completely different to how i am now.

i am still loyal to jah and dont go against the scriptures, but even though ive recently returned to pioneering (only aux pio at present) i see im a little more laid back.. i think this has come through having to endure hell and back without any help, except jehovah, which im not complaining, im so glad his been there for me, for us both.

but i really believe that due to things that have badly and wrongly been allowed to take place etc its moulded me a little different to how i was.

Angel eyes, your posts indicate that you have a love for God. They also show you have been treated badly by members of the congregation and that you don't believe everything that issues forth from the organisation. Please put two and two together and realise you do not need to be enslaved to an organisation to be a lover of God. The organisation is NOT the truth or a representative of the truth - it is a sham. Just read Ray Franz's book "Crisis of Conscience" to see how the GB do not rely on Gods spirit to guide them. They makje decision arbitarily and 7 million people follow whatever is said, without thinking about the consequences. Think about what is best for you and your kids not what is best for a man made organisation and start doing what you know is right.

CAN a jw have their blood oxygenated(sp?) outside their body?

Yes you can, as the oxygenation process can be seen as an extention of the circulatory system.

ok, im putting my neck on the line here but ive always believed that children should be raised to make their own choice, if to serve jah or not.. i wasnt ever forced to believe in anything, any religion etc, although my background is very complicated.. anyway, hubby and i have always thought that how can a child decide if they dont know what other things are, ie birthday partys, halloween etc.

so, our children are allowed to choose if to go places etc.

last year our little boy said he didnt want to go to a halloween party, this year he said he might.

AE, I am fading and know I have tread a an extremely delicate path so as not to get on the wrong side of the Org and be DF'd or forced to DA. I could not, however much I wanted to, allow my Kids to do Halloween. As others have said you are either so far on the edge of the org, that you have no right to defend it in the way you do, or you are in a completely different religion and haven't noticed that it isn't actually the JW's / WTS.

Interesting post Jeff. I have been thinking about this too. I am sure I would have made dfferent choices had I not been a witness. I am now 42 (43 on November 2nd), and I feel I still have time to do what I want. The problem is, I don't know what that is!!!

I probably would have worked in conservation if I wasn't a witnesses, I can still volunteer in conservation, but couldn't start a career in it now, I couldn't afford to go back to the beginning of a career path. (Likewise I could have been a Porn star, if I wasn't in the troof, that's a career that I could never do now as a tubby, balding, middle aged man!). In all seriousness, I don't think the decisions I made were any poorer for being a witness, just different. I have my own buisness, which allows me a great deal of me and my family time. I don't make a great deal of money but then I'm am not particularly materialistic (I might have been if I wasn't in the org, but that's not a bad thing).

I made an excellent choice of wife and two great kids..........No I wasn't detrimentally affected by the JW philosophy. BUT, I am sure many have been. They have made choices they may not have because of the religion, and it hasn't worked out for the best. But that isn't unique to JW's. People in all walks of life make bad choices because of their belief systems, their personal values or some other paradigm. People put their lives on hold for all sorts of reasons. I know people who are so sure they will win the lottery one day they are are relying on it. I know others who are waiting for an inheritance and their approach is similar, they get into more debt than necessary because they are hoping to be able to pay it off when the money comes.

Yes the JW philosphy does, indeed, have a destrcutive effect by encouraging people into a "I can do that later" mindset, but that is often because they are content to procrastinate, and they would probably find some other reason to do so.
