  Living With Regret - what do YOU regret about being in the org?

  1. getting baptized at 14 and not knowing what the heck i was 'signing' up for.

  2. dating worthless, lazy, no work ethic, selfish 'brothers' who were supposedly approved all because they were baptized - but in the end - were a waste of my time and younger years in dating.. 3. subjecting my bf (back in the day) who was a non-jw to the whole jw experience!

  i demanded that he study, i demanded that he change his religion in order to be with me, i made him sit with my parents and listened to them berate him (and myself) while they fed him all their haughty beliefs and requirements in order to date their jw daughter.

  Dissolved Congregation

  i heard recently that 1 of the 4 congregations in our relatively small area has been "dissolved" and relocating many of them to the hall i used to attend.

  it must be due to the low numbers these days.

  our average sunday meeting attendance when i left was around 75.. does this seem to be a growing trend recently?.

  Would you go back for the social aspect?

  i mean aside from wanting to keep in touch with family who are still in.

  would you ever go back just to have the social aspect in your life?

  i personaly wouldn't but i'd like to hear from you all about it....

  I have some friends who I would miss very much. I coming to an acceptance though, that very soon they will see me as "bad association" so will start leaving me out of their social lives. I am in the process of trying to make new friends. When I have developed some new ones the friendships at the KH will not be enought to entice me back.

  vacuums

  ok, i'm going to get something straight right now.

  vacuums are not my forte.

  however, i have the option of getting one of these at work for $99--half price.

  I have a couple/few friends that own Kirby's, though... top 'o the line models, which I understand not only vacuum, but wash and dry dishes, fold laundry, walk the dog, change the baby... and possibly even perform some other... ummmm, sundry "services" (jk!).

  Yeah Kirby are excellent but the means by which they are sold, (at least in the UK), hard sell in your home, would stop me from buying one.

  How long did it take before you started talking to others about being an ex-dub?

  i was just wondering if any of you took time to speak openly about being an ex-witness.. sometimes, when it came up naturally, i told some of my friends; in other cases, i felt really uncomfortable talking about it.

  in fact, it's a little strange, but i felt more comfortable telling casual friends rather than the people closest to me.

  i often felt like it was a huge revelation to make, often to find that people weren't really that shocked.

  I made contact with my best childhood friend (also the best man at our wedding), as soon as decided I wanted to leave. He was DF'd nine years ago. Telling him I was leaving was a real bitter sweet experience foor both of us. 9 years without shared experience was bitter, knowing we can be be friends from now on sweet!
