It is still called disfellowshipping or disassociating if you leave on your own accord. The result is still the same, no contact with other witnesses even family ,unless there is an emergency. The announcement is benign for legal reasons, and IMO to make the congregation think the worst of the person. It all load of controlling measures to keep the rank and file from finding the Truth about the Troof.

by foolsparadise inthey are announced as no longer being one of jehovahs witnesses.
why then do people still shun them if they are not disfellowshipped.
witnesses talk to non jws all the time, so we should be allowed to talk to members who are announced as no longer one of jehovahs witnesses.

in the JW new system will there be...
by highdose inthe following are questions that i've heard jw's ask, normaly they ask nobody in particualr, which is just as well because nobody in particualar ever answers back!....
will we have seasons in the new system?
if so how will we keep warm in winter etc?

So according to SOM we won't defecate or urinate in the new system, does that mean these functions are part of the inherited imperfection? I certainly don't remember that being part of the woes that God imposed on Adam and Eve after they sinned.

Where does the money go?
by JWinprotest inthe other day my wife asked me this question when i was trying to tell her that the society's motive behind most decisions is money.
she too thinks the society is misguiding people but she doesn't think it's being done for financial gain like i do.. can anyone out there confirm whether members of the gb or some of the higher profile bethelites are personally benefitting from all the money that is being gathered in by the organization.
and i don't mean stuff like, they have all their needs taken care of, i mean luxuries that most jw's would not receive..

It's all speculation. I am sure Ray Franz would have discussed such a lavish lifestyle if it was something he enjoyed. It is question I would to have answered too.

Short Men... and their refusal to use the Short Uninals... a threat to all of human civilization.
by Elsewhere ini have recently noticed a very fascinating phenomenon in men's restrooms: short men always use the "tall" urinals, even when it violates the "unspoken social contract of using the restroom" for men (ladies, please view the entire instructional video below before asking any questions).. .
i was suspicious that the short guys were doing this, but this morning i found conclusive evidence in the form of a short man blatantly violating the "unspoken social contract of using the restroom" for men this morning at work.
i was quite shocked and taken aback at this guy's blatant disregard for the rules (thereby threatening all of civilization as we know it) by using the wrong urinal.. here at work most men follow the social contract and use the urinal that is furthist from the door, which happens to be a "short" urinal for short people.

Baba, whilst researching the section about who partake of the emblems it dawned on me that my relationship with god was mediated through the FDS and GB.
Strangely enough I had a large mumber of people commend me on the talk, quite a few said it was one of the memorial talks they had heard. If only they knew it was to initiate my road to apostacy.

by minimus ini knew of a handful (which is too many) that were molested by a jehovah's witness.
it was not typical in my experience.

Yes! To the credit of the BOE the CO, appeal committee and the branch the situation was properly dealt with. The authorities were involved and the offender was disfellowshipped. When the guy asked for reinstatement he was told by the CO that it was unlikely he would ever be readmitted to the congregation.

Open mind, I was lucky enough to find out my wife was harbouring some doubts and it was easy for me to wake her up (within weeks of me waking up). The has facillitated a much faster fade than I initially anticipated. I would have probably taken your approach if she needed more convincing.
I have 2 school age children (7 and 9) and want them to grow out the rest of their childhood without the JW hang-ups. My is not ready to celebrate Xmas but has told our kids teachers that they can partcicipate in a number of key activities (as long as they are not acts of worship - Carol singing and prayers).
None of this would be happening if I undertook a gradual fade. Stepping aside as an elder was pivotal to my strategy, again without my wife's support I would not have been able pluck up the courage to do this.
So altough your approach was right for you, It would have been wrong for me. Everyone has to find an approach that suits them. I know you said this, but I just reinforcing that point so that people who have the right circumstances don't procrastinate if they don't need to.
I started waking up whilst preparing this years memorial talk in March and joined JWN in July. I still submit a FS report and attend a few meetings. I don't expect to be attending by next Summer.
