  The homeless sister and the $60,000 RV

  i was in a congregation once which had a large number of desperately poor people in it.

  there was an elderly sister, she lived near me, a sweet woman, who became homeless because her ramshackled old house caught fire.

  around that same time one of the overseers (imagine that using a slavery term), i forget if it was district or circuit overseer, came to town wanting a new rv/truck combo.

  several years ago i was contacted by a well-known (actually famous and well-published) professor from the university of california at san diego and we had lunch.

  he bought lunch.

  doesn't everyone write books to make a whole big bunch of money?.

  Farkel - don't demeam yourself. Your contribution on this board is valuable. I have been on here for less than 6 months and you are one the reglular posters who have made a difference. You have a talent for expressing yourself in a succint and humourous manner. If you wrote a book I am sure it would be a great read. Look after youself and do what you can to meet your aspirations despite your health issues.

  Official visit from two local elders one fine Sunday morning

  well, it finally happened.

  a week ago sunday my fiancee and i were sitting in the living room drinking coffee and watching the morning talking heads when we heard the crunch of tires on the gravel in the driveaway, about 10:30 or so.

  we looked at each other with that "are you expecting anyone?

  but the world really is no better & neither are ex-jdubs, despite their character building experience.. the watchtower and all other religions are pointless scumbag rackets.

  Farkel - Get it sorted - please you have been a breath a of fresh air for so many of us here, you deserve your own breath of fresh air.

  Anyone in the USA who is against Obama's healthcare refroms should take into account people like Farkel. Here In the UK cost would not be an issue.

  she is 63 yrs old still a jw.. has shunned me for years.. she lives in montreal me in ontario... .

  last week i got the urge to send her a lovely card just to tell her i love her .

  i am disfellowshipped and i have two girls who live with their dad.

  all of them are witnesses.

  my oldest is 19 and baptized.

  No gorillas in paradise!

  funny thought this morning, while seeing the movie trailer for robin williams and john travolta's new flick, old dogs.

  in the movie, they accidentally end up in the gorilla enclosure at the zoo while trying to rescue a child who is stuck in the zoo after hours.

  the trailer shows one of the men being cradled in the arms of the seated gorilla--the actor's "singing" soothes the gorilla.. it occurred to me then that the paradise pictures by the society always have lions and cheetahs and elephants... but no gorillas that i remember!!
