soem years ago, I came unintentionally to this websie, and after reading some headlines only, I thought, what a bunch of loosers...
evil apostates, who, in order to excuse their wrong doing, find faults in Jahs org and "beat" the slaves with lies and half-truths...
well, it changed, but not this forum, it was me that changed.
What made this change ? evil apostates ? satanic propaganda ? No, my eyes opened wider and wider only through reading material published by the WTS !!!! After many years, i could not put up with cognitive dissonace in myself, once you see the strong "human" element in some of their teachings, you shake off their stupid restrictions, and look "behind the curtain", which is also oin websides like this.
Maybe, my friend, in due time, you come back, after experiencing similar things.
i left town after the court case for a fresh start , it was 18 months before dubs knocked on my door , so i told them why i was not interested in their message , aswell as the watchtower payouts in may 2007 ,with gag orders attached , they seemed quite shocked by that but warned me to be carefull what information i read on the web !
i told them that in america they do not make up the news !
they seemed quite shocked about what happened to my child but said it would have ben an isolated case !
I remember, when a letter came from the society, how to deal with brothers, who abused children.
I thought, man that really happens in gods org ?
I thought, those were isolated cases.....
Normal JW do not know the facts, from where should they get the information ?
The society does not tell anything, only bits and pieces to elders some times..
apostate information is heavily demonized and the internet or media in general has to be mistrusted, anything against JW is propaganda from the world of the devil.
Additionally, please consider, JW view themselves as a close community, a real rotherhood, just like a little village.
To hear something like that happening in a little village, people usually tend to deny it, this was the case for years in many countries, so it is the case with most JW as well.
This is simply to clarify or to understand the reaction of most JW, however, nobody should minmize the damage that has been done to children + their families from "sick" criminals and from the wrong policy of the WTS !!!

agree with moshe, to me it was explained, that since the requirements for an elder are in the Bible, and the bible is sinspired through holy spirit, therefore if somebody is appointed as elder, he is appointed by holy spirit.
However, how was this true in the 1. century, before this particular letters (to Timothy and Titus) were written ?
zoiks inspired this thread when he mentioned this book elsewhere.. i have read other threads on this forum about it, but i always enjoy the fresh insight on here.. commentary on the letter of james was always my favorite book from wtbs, partly because i love the book of james, but also because it was one of the books that dealt with more practical christian living than constant wt doctrine.. i mentioned to a number of people that i loved that book, and got a few comments of "well, you know that book was written by an apostate.".
it didnt take me long to do a little math - that book came out i believe in 1979/1980, right around the time of the great purge.
how could someone write such an excellent book and then be branded an apostate just a few months later???.

Also later in the same chapter, it says something about, that preaching is a "spontaneous" event.....not that forced for filling in report at the end of the month thing...

just read the introduction of his book, its one of the best lines ever written in WT-history.
If JW really followed this, it would be a much better religion....and maybe this site would not need to exist...
until 6 months ago, i had faith in jehovah, jesus and the bible.
i was not a jw ( i had been dfd 15 years ago) but i was planning on going back.
i questioned some basic beliefs on the wts and discovered i had been lied to for over 35 years.
often, and starting especially sinc ethe WTS put so much emphasis on personal study and family worship, I took also time to find asnwers for deeper questions.
Time and again I could see, the answers found on the WT-Library are not always satisfying, more questions were left open than answered.
This questioning led to seeing inconsistencies in doctrines and even outright contradictions.
once the questioning rreally starts, it doenst end,
It finally led to question even Gods existence.
Now I am after looking again a bit on science (free from WTS approved material) I still see proof for existence of a higher being.
Regarding the bible, I am not sure, since all my faith in Gods word was based upon one-sided information from the ORG.
Esp. some events on the OT make no sense to me...on the other hand, I will make good use of it to help others to see how far the WTS is in many aspects from the true message of Gods word (no matter if it is his word or not)
on another thread, african gb member wondered whether the members of the governing body really believe what they preach.
and that led me to this thought:.
unless i misunderstood what i have read, the governing body claims that jehovah communicates with them and tells them what to do.
very interesting, I am looking for "non-apostae" (no pun intended) information on how the GB comes to their conclusions by voting.
atm I dont have access to youtube, but is this video reliable ?
I ask, because I want to share this info with others, but if it is any remotely connected to apostates, red flags will go up, and I achieve nothing.
For that reason I believe the CoC of ray Franz surely has accurate insider information, but I cannot use it, because its labeled apostate.
