Also.....he can't be afraid of an intellegent, uninhibited woman. He has to have something to teach me and be willing to learn a thing or two from me.
It also helps a whole bunch if he's nice to my friends!

hi all,.
i don't know about the rest of you, but there's something that grates on me like new chalk on a blackboard.. i refer to that expression jws use to describe that threadbare tapestry of conjecture, fill-in-the-blanks theological approach to doctrines the bible leaves hazy and judgmental moralism that comprises the wt belief system-- you know, ``the truth," as in ``he/she left the truth,'' or ``how long have you been in the truth?''.
may i suggest that it be amended to ``the opinion?
My non-witness brother-in-law was deeply offended when he heard my family using the phrases The Truth and Worldly people. This made him feel very strongly like we viewed him as an unwelcome outsider.
I was shocked at how none of us had ever considered this before.

would any former elders like to share their experiences serving on judicial committees?
were your decisions subjective?
do you feel that the "system" works?
Thanks for the lead on the posts by Amazing. I am reviewing these.

Metatron, I don't understand your comment regarding "You have to laugh when they publish letters FORBIDDING elders from resigning! You have to get permission to quit, first." What do you mean?

Would any former elders like to share their experiences serving on judicial committees? Were your decisions subjective? Do you feel that the "system" works? I know many people who have walked away from the organization, not because they were DF'd, but because they felt disfellowshipping was very subjective. They would see some of their friends get DF'd for a certain wrongdoing, and then someone else who did the same thing would only get a private reproof.
I obviously can't ask this to any current elders so thought I'd try you.
i was just wondering about some points in the bible... no, i'm not saying there's a contradiction, i'm trying to find a reasonable answer here.... anyone remember when those two kids started to insult... elijah i believe?
and then he called god on them and a bear killed not only them, but also hundreds more???
jeez.. okay, that's one thing.
The children/bears story does have one of my favorite quotes "Go up, you baldhead!"
The incident that has always bothered me is when the men in the town wanted Lot to give up the angels so they could rape him. Lot then proceeds to offer his virgin daughters instead. This is supposed to teach us about hospitality.
