i have seen many posters mature here.

some still act like jws but others have shown recovery and progress from the witness mentality..

I have read many fine posts which have help me cope with many difficulties. I have got smarter with the knowledge shared on this forum. I have been touched by the compassion of many forum members. I have definitely changed for the better because of this forum.

hello, i am back after a long break from all things jw and xjw, and publicly, i will offer my apologies to the owner of this board for being so harsh with him/her, and if he allows me to remain on this board, i am thankful.. i am the apostate formerly known as publishingcult.

i am currently in the richmond, va area if anyone would care to meetup for coffee or whatever.

Growing old in this system

meet up wth an old friend of my parents.

it was sad, mable in her 80's husband is 91 and falling apart.

off course to start with it was armageddon must be soon.

When I was young, I remember an elderly couple back in the 70's who were "hanging on" because paradise was just around the corner. They both are long and gone without Armageddon coming. Just last week an elderly elder visiting my wife. He stated that he is eagerly looking forward to Armageddon coming soon because of the generation getting up in age. I mentioned the revised generation explanation that the WTS has now. I could see the disappointment in his eyes, but he will stay will the org until death.

My life could have been better like many have already stated. A lack of a higher education is a big problem. I admire ones who could go back to school in their later years of life, but I am just too old in my mind. I also am better off than many. I am grateful for what I have, such as a job, family, good work associates, and being a member of this forum.

1914 - It was the end of the world as we knew it - things got much better!

i was having a conversation with a jw relative recently i casually mentioned how much better the world is than a few centuries.

obviously the jw was incredulous.

the next day i found an email in my inbox listing a few qoutes from notable people saying how the world has gotten much worse since 1914 and that 1914 was a pivitol year.

The information presented is excellent. When I ask my children and grand-children if they want to live like those before 1914, they quickly say no. No TV, no computer, no facebook, no twitter, and no streaming video and music. Life is definitely better now than in the past.

since sir82 pretty much covered the highlights of the drivel i only have this to say about it besides total waste of time:.

the 2 witness rule is very much still in effect for pedophilia.

they barely covered that 10/1/12 letter to all bodies, basically the co read it and even skipped some parts.

I heard that one group of elders did not receive notification that they had to bring their own food for lunch. As a result they did not have lunch and were very upset. Wow, they were more concerned about the physical food than the spiritual food.

When You Were Sitting During The Meetings What Were You Really Thinkng About?

i used to listen to all the stupid comments and wonder if i could sneak out of there and scram!

even after i resigned as an elder, i went for a while and eventually began missing more and more meetings.

but while i was there, i'd listen to comments, chuckle to myself how dumb it all was and then go home with the knowledge that my days were numbered there..

It would always drive me up the wall to hear a brother who always give a public talk inserting his own thoughts into the material. I mean incorrect thoughts or old, outdated, changed information. Why tell us that the 10 toes of Daniel's image means all the governments of the world, when hello the understanding has been changed. Yet this brother was used constantly. I found that all I was doing was "looking" for incorrect information in his talks.

this is totally unrelated to anything jw, but it's the only group i'm in online with such a mix of men and women, so i'm asking.

what's your experience with hand shaking?.
