Hope you succeed Lawrence. The blood issue was one of the greatest mistakes the WTS ever made.

Lukewarm, thanks for sharing your comments. It is extremely sad how the WTS continually makes quotes that the readers accept as always factual.
Yet as Butterflyleia85 brought out the source information is not provided. Hence how can a person easily research this information.

Since the song book has been revised, the reasoning book must also be in the works.

Disfellowshipped Relatives & The Scriptures & Manmade Rules
by minimus ini think the stupidest rule regarding disfellowshipped ones has to be regarding if a relative lives in the home of a jw or not.
where in the bible does it say that you can talk and not shun a df'd person if they live in your home but if they don't live there, you have to avoid them and treat them as dead?.
the organization decides if a df'd person could live within the home.

That is what happened to me. My daughter got df and the rest of the elder body wanted me to kick her out. Though she was 18, she had no job or way to sustain herself. Since I would not kick her out, they removed me as an elder. Then they threatened me with being df for keeping a df daughter home. I then faded away from the congregation.

have you ever wittnessed the fall of an "alpha family"?
by highdose inyou know the family i mean in the congo, its always a 2.4 family, the father is always always an elder, the wife is always has an air of supremness who looks down her nose at all the other sisters, the kids always appear to be textbook straight of a watchtower illistration " how to be a perfect jw".
they spend their time practiculay glued to the platform, showing everyone how they are not measuring up to their perfect example.
and all round just making everyone feel unworthy.

There was an alpha elder in one congo that really thought he was hot stuff. The other elders were basically in fear of him. He treated me and others like the description of the Pharasees treating the people like dirt. I and a few others switched congos. About three years later, he was removed as an elder. He has never become an elder to this day. The fun part was visiting the congo he was in, he is like a whipped pup.
Another alpha elder who had the "perfect" family was brought down by his wife complaining to the WTS about him being a tyrant at home. He fought this for years saying he was unjustly treated. Amazingly another elder who was his supporter and life-long friend got the CO to feel sorry for him about 5 years later. His oldest child is out of the house and out of the "truth" and calls his parents "those people" instead of mom and dad. His other children and wife are now the "perfect" family again and he is the same old alpha elder with supreme control of the congo.

Removed and Dissolved?
by startingovernow inin the past i've heard of whole bodies of elders being removed/df'd and entire congregations being dissolved.
anyone know any verifiable account of this happening - details please!.
-

In the early 80s I personally know of a whole body of elders being removed for not having enough hours in the field ministry. The congregation was not desolved, but the CO brought elders from other congregations in to replace the removed ones.

Do you know your personality type?
by bluecanary inwhat is your myers-briggs personality type?
if you're unfamiliar with it, you can take a test here: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp.
be warned that the test can be wildly inaccurate.

A Question for any Ex Elders
by cantleave inhave you apologised to those who you df / da for apostacy or other rule breaking?
if so how?.
-
straightshooter
I was never on a JC apostasy case. But all the JC cases I did not enjoy. I hated having to judge another because they "got caught". In the back of my mind I thought I would have done the same thing if I was younger and in the same situtation.
I have not apologized to any of them, nor have I ever see or heard from them since.

I want to do volunteer work - this is classic
by heybaby init has always bothered my how witnesses are discouraged from doing volunteer work because "preaching to them about the truth is the best thing we can do!
" ok, yeah, whatever.
it's true that the bible talks about preaching as being important for christians, but that's far from being the only thing that christians are encouraged to do for their fellow humans.

When a dear friend of mine stopped coming to the meetings, he became a volunteer for the local police and fire departments. Another former witness I know she volunteers in cooking meals and distributing food for a local homeless organization.
What you say is the common line of reasoning for JWs. But it is strange that if a JW is in field service and notices a person in need then they should help. Such as getting medicine or food for an elderly householder. JWs suppose to show concern for their immediate neighbors also. But when it comes to times other than field service or the local neighbors, then it becomes entirely different.
