In no way I implied he fell in love with terror. I think he fell in love with a fascinating culture. But, in the process was indeed victimized by the terrorists.

He would not be the first American to travel and explore other cultures and other religions.I don't think this is strange at all. It's evidence of a heart who's yearning and is unfulfilled or in awe of knowledge. But, becoming involved with a millenary civilization should not make one defend aberration.

And, perhaps this is off topic. But, all these old civilizations seem to leave women out of the spiritual equation, maybe not in ideals, but certainly in real life practice.

[Why must someone who leaves this country and finds beauty and comfort in another be suspected of brainwashing? In the humanities class I just finished, we learned that the Arabic culture dominated Western civilization for more than a thousand years and was superior to European culture in many ways. Why should we find fault with someone for wanting to enjoy such a life... and fight for it?

It's the American Way.]

The Muslim Sufi mystic culture produced probably the most inspiring and beautiful poetry ever. The Arab culture of course has centuries of riches behind it. Yet, using a belief to join an extremist faction that approves of horrid acts is indeed mind control.

Although Walker will become an icon and a scapegoat for hatred, his role was rather minimal in the scheme of things.

I do understand what you are saying though. I think the American nation has received a wake up call, but I fear the lesson will escape us. So many issues are absent from the press, for example how has Turkey being able to hold a mostly Muslim population yet remain democratic, why are other democratic nations not singled out for this much hate, what role foreign policy has played in all of this.

And probably, the biggest issue...the danger of falling into the trap of renouncing basic civil liberties, the mark of Big Brother.

i am writing to ask for your help.. attached is a copy of my op ed, which was published yesterday in the boston globe.

Before I read Mr. Hassan's appeal, I approached the matter in other forums that are not for exJWs. The reception of the idea that Mr. Walker is victimized by mind control is hard to grasp by most to the point that another lady who agreed with me was offered an Arab name. And politicans like Sen. Daschle make a sorry case when he appeared on CNN with evident sincere worries about this young man. He was at a loss as to why.

I think this is an excellent opportunity to voice our concerns and make this issue finally burst forth into the limelight.

Blind Date

Next, the couple went on the Ferris wheel. When the ride was over, Scott again asked Mary what she would like to do.
"I want to get weighed," she said. Back to the weight guesser they went. Since they had been there before, he guessed her correct weight, and Scott lost his dollar.
The couple walked around the carnival and again he asked where to go next. "I want to get weighed," she responded. By this time, Scott figured she was really weird and took her home early, dropping her off with a handshake.
Her roommate, Laura, asked her about the blind date, "How'd it go?"
Mary responded, "Oh, Waura, it was wousy."

Many puertorricans oppose manuevers in Vieques because the island is a municipality full of people. The recent events were provocked by the death of a civilian by friendly fire. That incited the leftist side and all hell broke loose. Many Americans think this is an inhabited island. Would you like to hear bomibng in your back yard day in and day out? If the island is so vital and there is no other place in the world where this manuevers can be performed, the people must be taken out of there and a place must be provided for them.

Obviously, from what I posted in my previous reply, I don't wish the Navy to leave. And if you think there are not enough puertorricans that think like me you are very mistaken.

I am sorry. But security must be of primary importance in America now
because you have realized you are as vulnerable as anybody else. And terrorism can only be dealt with with a firm hand. These past days have been too horrific.

Some infantile reactions were to be expected. Racially derogatory comments only display ignorance. "Wacky puertorricans" have died for the American flag in many wars, my family members included. The recent events in the Pentagon touched me personally. You see, we do a bit more than drink and dance.

Small town America as a target comes from the mouth of a personal friend, an American from a Southern state that works in a dependency that equips him to make the statement.

Sadly, camel excrement is not at Walmart but in NY and Washington. I hope this monumental tragedy will awaken your senses.

For the past 50 years Puerto Rico has been victimized by the small socialist independence faction of the island. A group that has received support from the major Communist groups in Latin America. We have also been witness to the influx of Latin Americans facing civil strife in their own lands and the methods of the guerrillas.

Terrorism in PR began in 1952, if I remember correctly, when a group of puertorricans went into Congress armed and started shooting. The governor was swift in aprehending the master mind who was jailed until he died. And so were the ones that participated. The last two were released old and sick.

Nevertheless, they have managed to incite the socialists which throughout the years have bombed different installations, held up banks including a Wells Fargo truck, held up retaurants full of people, killed 32 Navy men driving to a military base and 7 people in a Chicago club. Most of their activities are confined to bombing communications and public services because theirs is a political movement. The danger of the recent attacks in the USA is religious fanaticism. A very dangerous thing indeed.

When any bomb goes off we know well enough what to do. Business goes on as usual but schools close and mothers and children stay home. The National Guard and the special task force of the police movilizes to the streets immediately. Right now the police has invaded the San Juan airport. Everyone coming in is searched and smelled by German Sheperds, every bag and box is being opened. Federal buildings are fuilly guarded not only because of the recent events but also because the Socialists take any opportunity to resurface. Special task forces are protecting the Arab descendants who are under death threats because these people are by now third generations USA citizens.

Americans are not used to this. The only thing that works is a strong hand to avoid major catastrophes. Be ready to acknowledge that terrorists must be deployed by now all over American soil and I suspect the next target is small town America.

This is not a time to philosophy on exJWs sites about what is going on. I implore you to open your eyes and realize you need to face reality and protect yourselves.

everybody has called for everything from full scale nuclear assault to a more measured response, against targets ranging from the entire middle east to just the perpetrators.

the only country in which arabs can vote for their leaders is israel, where native born arabs are given citizenship.

For more than 30 years, the world has been victimized by terrorist bullies. If you think this was not an act of war, think again. NATO and many countries are supporting the US offering both money and military resources, which is to say, they mean business. And unless we form a common bond with our fellow citizens, we are bound to begin sounding like Jane Fonda at the time of the Vietnam conflict.

I am sure military and terrorist installations can be targeted to put a stop to this. Countries supporting this behavior must be forced to deliver the guilty parties.

War is a horrid event in which many innocent ones die. Not one of us is safe anymore. But, it is about time we propose a new commandment:"Thou shalt not succumb to terrorism."
