I did wear a zebra stiped skirt to an 80's party a few years ago, but for regular everyday clothes? Eww, no. But I'm also in my early thirties.

Is it fashionable to wear animal print clothing? JWN ladies, do you wear that kind of stuff?
by miseryloveselders ina friend of mine made the statement that only old women wear animal print clothing.
she said this some weeks ago, and ever since i have been noticing that it is the more mature of the mature population still wearing leopard print, and zebra print fashions.
granted occasionally i see younger gals wearing that stuff too, but its usually as an accessory such as a shawl.

Reading through this reminded me of so many good older and not-so older shows!
For me, MASH, Highlander: The Series, Mystery Science Theater 3000, The X-Files, and Daria were some favorites. Firefly was a newer show that was cancelled far too soon.

Yay! Canucks are on top of the Wild 2 - 0.
Well, I guess the Wild kicked enough Canadian butt earlier this week...

I feel really angry
by Quester55 ini feel angry, bitter, resentful and stupid.
when i was in my 30's and young and strong, and had a long stretch of life ahead of me, i went along with the jw's and didn't get my education.
now that i am 50, divorced and barely making a living as a teacher aide, i am scrounging around trying to get the loans and grants to enable me to go to school to earn a b.a.

At what point did you realize JW's were a Cult?
by Think About It inmost of us x-jw's at one point no doubt defended the jw's when called a cult.
althought being out since 95', when i first came here it took awhile before i could use the cult word to describe the jw religion.
finding out about the pedophile scandal was disgusting, but it was probably finding out here about the wts history and terrible personal experiences of some on this board that made me finally admit that the jw's were a cult.

When I read "Releasing the Bonds" and highlighted everything that I had seen or experienced growing up a JW on the BITE model.
I sat back and said, "Holy $h!t, they are a cult!"

My memory of the 1975 fiasco (born in 1970)
by Lady Zombie indrew sagan posted this fine thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/12/160876/1.ashx in which a few people remarked that hardly anyone under the age of 40 even knows about the 1975 failed prediction.. i was born in 1970 and i do remember the 1975 fiasco.
for what it's worth, here are my memories and how it was explained to me.. late in 1968 my parents decided to have me because, like many other jws, they thought that i would never have to deal with the world or go to school.
they carefully planned to have me during the year of 1970 because they didn't want to go through armagedon with an infant, so they figured if i was 5 years old, i would be old enough to run, feed myself, and at least know enough to take shelter from the elements or hide.

A friend's dad left the witnesses after 1975- he had dropped out of college since the end was sooo close!
I remember her telling me that the Society never said anything about 1975 and her dad just blamed them for his mistakes.
Now I just wonder why she would believe them over her dad's personal experience. D'oh, that's right- kool-aid!
