For Gamers: The Humble Indie Bundle
by Rydor inif you like video games even a little, you owe it to yourself to check this out:.
humble indie bundle.
basically, it's a collection of 8 excellent games from independent developers, for which you can pay any price you want (yes, as low as $0.01).. i've played two of them (braid and limbo) and they were fantastic.

The dark Sparlock is kind of cool- maybe Sparlock's evil twin?

Sometimes after lumbar punctures, cerebrospinal fluid will continue to weep from the injection site. Gives the patient a massive headache if they stand or sit, but it goes away if they lie down. A epidural blood patch is used to repair the injection site- a small amount of blood is removed from the patient and injected into the same area. The blood clots and stops CFS from leaking. It's kind of cool to see, because the patient feels better right away.
I think they also have glues that can be used to patch the leak.

Has ANYONE married someone who is not a jw and been/is happy????

My hubby was never a JW and we've been married close to 10 years now. He treats me as an equal and a partner, we discuss problems and situations that come up, and he has never treated me as a weaker person or said anything along the lines of, "I'm the head of the family, my way or the highway."
He's a great guy

Some Witnesses Seem To Relish Bad News
by EmptyInside init may be just my imagination, but sometimes i think witnesses get overly excited when a natural disaster or some violent event happens.
i guess they feel it proves their point on how awful things are.. my mother seems to be this way.
she seemed elated to tell me about a couple shootings that took place in our city today.

Reminds me of a conversation I had with my dad. He was making a comment about "it's sooo bad" and how he couldn't wait of the Big A and I nailed him on it- how morbid it is to wish for billions of people to die, how we aren't supposed to rejoice over the deaths of others, and basically said that I was disgusted by his attitude.
The best part of this convo? He was saying this in front of my "worldly" hubby. The look on his face when he was hearing that... Dad saw hubby's face and realized that he wasn't exactly giving the best witness. Later that night, I overheard my dad making excuses to hubby: "We [JWs] don't want people to die, we're just tired of how bad the world is, blah, blah, blah."

Higher Education ... Thoughts, Tips, Money-saving Ideas
by RubaDub inwhile i have a bachelors and advanced degree from a very well-respected university, it makes me cringe when i see what people spend (or think they need to spend) to get a college degree.
having taken a few non-traditional steps to get my education, here's a few thoughts and ideas to think about if your kids are getting to be college age or if you (like many jw's) are thinking about going to college later in life:.
1. community colleges are a bargain!.

I have another suggestion: Call businesses and ask to do a job shadow. You can see what different jobs entail and see if you would do well in that field. You don't want to spend a lot of money and then find out that you hate the field that you're educated in.
