Latest "Questions From Readers" - who wrote in with this question?!
by cedars ini kid you not.
the latest watchtower study edition has the following question under consideration in the "questions from readers" article on page 20:.
do jesus words found at matthew 19:10-12 suggest that those who choose to remain single have received the gift of singleness in a mysterious way?.

Check out freecycle.org to see if you can find pots, pans, utensils, and dishes for free.

Don't even bother buying ramen. Get pasta or rice noodles and some bags of frozen mixed veggies Heat up your water, follow the directions on the pasta bag or box, add your favorite spices to the water (I like to use garlic, onion, Mrs Dash), add a generous helping of veggies, and you got homemade soup without the nasty flavor packet! If you want to add some meat, boil some chicken then shred or chop it up, and use the broth.
For pizza cravings, buy tortillas, pizza sauce, pepperoni slices, your favorite toppings. Spread sauce on the tortilla, your toppings, and pop in the oven. The tortillas make a great thin crust. Or you can microwave it, but the tortillas don't get nice and crispy. Tortillas are great for quick rollups too. Just put ham and cheese on a tortilla, roll up, and microwave.
And don't forget about sandwiches. You can make your own for half of what a convenience store or sub shop charges.

No More Conventions! ( For Me)
by EmptyInside ini'm so relieved not having to go to another convention.
i haven't been to one in two,three years,lost track.
so happy not having to sit for all those hours on an uncomfortable chair, listening to boring talks.. i am thrilled not having to clean public toilets in my best clothes.

They all talk about how wonderful the convention is, but when you ask what really stood out to them, they hem and haw. Last time I asked my mom that, she said, "Hmm, um, well... They really brought out how close the end is!" Really, how different from the rest of the meetings you go to.

Dubs badmouthing children
by rebel8 ini was remembering the 1980s when it was in vogue to shun children.
they went through a fad when they'd call unbaptized excommunication as "disassociation".
within a short period of time, most of the teens and preteens were "disassociated" or disfellowshipped.

My parents were studying during the 80's, and when I hear these stories, I wonder how the hell they didn't have red lights flashing in their heads, 'Warning, warning!"

Would You Listen To A Prayer From A JW And Say Amen If They Said A Prayer In Your Presence?
by minimus inmy mom has had visits from various jws and they have asked her if they could say a prayer before they left.
i respectfully listened to the prayers while i was visiting and might silently say amen if i felt the prayer was appropriate for my mom.. i'm just curious, how would you handle this type of situation?.

We have dinner with my parents once a week and my dad always has to say a prayer first. I bow my head, but I don't close my eyes or say amen. Actually, I noticed last time that my brother doesn't say amen either, just my mom. I'm waiting for my dad to make a comment about it. My husband calls my dad's prayers sermons- bet dad's counting that as time preaching to my "worldly" husband!

Who else, besides me?
by AK - Jeff inover the years on jwn i have often found myself hunting through posts of newcomers, hoping against hope i suppose, that the newbie would be one of my former friends in the local congregation down the street.. i just find it hard to imagine that not a soul among these people has taken the courage to investigate their religion and leave like my wife and i have done.. as the local 'active apostate', i also supposed that at any moment some of the 'brothers' would come covertly to my home, knock and say something like " i am out - please let's talk about it, why i left, why you left.
but, none of the above has ever happened.
i did come across a local former jw here, from another congregation, and we have become good friends over the past few years.

I used the search function to look up names of congregations that I've been to, and I did find someone that I know. But his last post was a few years ago.
