What does an MS do?
by deemoo inright... so i've hung around on jwn for a while now, but i simply can't figure out where an ministerial servant stands in the hierarchy scheme of the wts.. there's the r&f or rank & file.. then there seems to be the microphone handlers, sound checkers, donation bin watchers, index card for territory managers, person who is in charge of the books, etc.. then there are elders.
circuit overseers.

Dissolved Congregation
by dudeson ini heard recently that 1 of the 4 congregations in our relatively small area has been "dissolved" and relocating many of them to the hall i used to attend.
it must be due to the low numbers these days.
our average sunday meeting attendance when i left was around 75.. does this seem to be a growing trend recently?.

"These truly are the last days."
I'm sure i'll hear that expression from my mom if this subject comes up when I visit her.

In addition to the books OTWO recommended, I'd also recommend "I'm Perfect, You're Doomed" by Kyria Abrahams. I read the whole thing yesterday and she writes in a way that JW's who have been in for their whole lives can really relate to.

I didn't read Acts 20:20 in context, which I should have. It makes sense now.
This is a great point to show to some of my friends. I'm adding this point to my arsenal.

What do you think - are most ex-JWs atheist, agnostic, or still involved in some form of religion?
by lifelong humanist ini dad 6 years ago because, after a rational search came to the conclusion that there probably is no god.
shortly afterwards, i concluded that (for me) there is no god, which made me feel that i really was a natural-born humanist - a position that i'm entirely comfortable with.
i know that many former jws hold a similar, atheistic viewpoint.

I came to the same conclusion you did. And here is a recent poll...

I have a hard copy of the Holman Christian Standard and it uses "house to house" at Acts 20:20. Although it isn't Jesus saying these words, is it also a mistranslation? Should it be the same as Acts 5:42?
