This good news of the kingdom
by sd-7 inif you'll open your 'benefit from theocratic ministry school education' books to page 279, you'll notice that it says, "the message jesus said would be preached in our time goes beyond what was preached in the first century.
" if you actually opened your books, i'm paraphrasing, but that's pretty close to the actual quote.. i remembered this quote from sometime ago, but couldn't understand how people overlooked this obvious violation of galatians 1:8: "even though we or an angel out of heaven should declare to you as good news something beyond what we preached, let him be accursed.".
of course, the answer is obvious: many jws don't pay attention to what they read.

What happened to your marriage after you stopped believing?
by JerkhovahsWitless ini know some posters here went through or are going through some painful things right now because of no longer believing when they have a husband / wife that still does.
others were able to free the minds of their spouse.
i'm assuming the latter is a lot more rare.. anyone that wishes to share their story, please do.. i'm looking to pass the info on to someone who doesn't totally believe, but may marry a jw.

Thanks everyone for digging up old bad feelings and sharing your experiences with me.
I thought I'd be sharing this info with my friend tonight, but it turns out he's sick and went to bed early. I'll be talking to him tomorrow instead.
If anyone else wants to post, there's still time

SAD
by Cthulhu ini'm sure we are all aware of the condition known as sad (seasonal affected depression).
generally, for those who aren't familiar with it, this means that due, largely in part, to the lack of sunlight during the winter months, people experience feelings of depression.
however, i am curious as to whether you may have observed something similar, but rather opposite, and i would appreciate your input.

I thought this was going to be about a Special Assembly Day, lol.
I live in FL, so I've never experienced that much lack of sunlight.
When it is cold, cloudly or rainy here, I tend to enjoy it more. I hate the beach, the sun and usually keep my blinds closed. I hate mornings.
I'm pretty much a vampire.

I'm looking to pass the info on to someone who doesn't totally believe, but may marry a JW. Once the spouse learns he doesn't believe, which it has to come up eventually after he makes enough negative WT org comments to her, I'd like some experiences to let him know what married life may become like.
Thanks

Is the Governing Body really Jehovah's mouthpiece?
by dgp inon another thread, african gb member wondered whether the members of the governing body really believe what they preach.
and that led me to this thought:.
unless i misunderstood what i have read, the governing body claims that jehovah communicates with them and tells them what to do.

I think the Governing Body acts more like an ass rather than a mouthpiece.
All that comes out of them is a bunch of crap

Does anybody else feel relieved that they won't be tortured during the great tribulation?
by doublelife ini grew up hearing about different ways people have been tortured in the past and was always scared of going through that during the gt.
it was always an unhealthy obsession of mine.
i always thought that i was more worried about it than other jws and that i would end up renouncing my faith to get out of it.

I'm kind of disappointed I won't be tortured.
All of my life so far wasted as a Witless, a little BDSM during the GT would have been a blast.

My mom got stumbled by today's Watchtower
by JerkhovahsWitless inthe photo on page 26. she noticed it and was wondering before i even brought it to her attention.. why is it ok for the jw posing as the "worldly person" to wear a cross necklace?
aren't jws suppose to destroy their crosses prior to becoming a jw no matter the monetary or sentimental value?
why can the watchtower keep cross necklaces on hand as props?

Hmm, interesting. Thanks for sharing. I didn't know about the cigarettes or the icons at Bethel.
I haven't seen the Hermione knock-off yet. I'll keep an eye out for it when we study that article. I don't even get a kool-aid edition anymore. I use my parents.

Have you Been Shunned Even Though Just Considered " Inactive " ?
by flipper inmany of us here on the board are " inactive" , myself included.
have not attended meetings or gone out in service for years.
i haven't now for 6 years + .

My closest friend's parents last year limited him seeing me once they found out from my big mouth mother that I wasn't going to meetings. Yet, his friends and even older moved out of the house brother still saw me.
Since going back to the kingdumb hell, some people have talked to me, others just smile at me like I'm DF'ed.

Why is it OK for the JW posing as the "worldly person" to wear a cross necklace? Aren't JWs suppose to destroy their crosses prior to becoming a JW no matter the monetary or sentimental value? Why can the Watchtower keep cross necklaces on hand as props? Isn't that supporting Satan and Christendom by buying one? (unless it was a gold chain and they photoshopped a cross onto it)
While she was questioning that, I sarcastically told her to just file it in the back of her mind and ignore it. We shouldn't be questioning. Then I went back a few pages to page 14 and showed her from a previous lesson paragraph 5 "By word or action, may we never challange the channel of communication that Jehovah is using today." She asked what page is that on? She wanted to read it in her own copy of the WT. I told her to read paragraphs 3-5, which she did.
After the meeting she asked a family friend about the cross. The friend didn't notice it, but now that my mom brought it up, he thought it was odd, too. He suggested she ask Brother Elder. She didn't. I told her not to bother anyway, she wasn't going to get an answer that made sense. I left the hall before her. She came home and told me that she ended up asking Brother Elder. He said he "didn't understand why they chose to do that either." I said "what else did you think he was going to say?", that "well, sister, that's because the Watchtower are hypocrites."?
Also, during the meeting I asked her "where's the pedophile is at?" I haven't seen him at the last few meetings. She asked "which one?" (there's 2 in my congregation). I said "the convicted one that you can find on the Internet." 'Ol pedo's been sick lately and not at the meeting. I said "I bet he misses coming here for all of the eye-candy." She said that "people change." I said "pedophiles are sick mentally, and its not right all of these people here with kids have no idea what he is." She agreed. But, added "well, at least I don't think he's allowed in service." I said "yes, they are. They're allowed to go to in service and even study with people who have children." She didn't agree that was right. But, continued trying to justify it so it would make sense to her. "All kinds of people from the world come into the truth."
So, anyway, little by little maybe I'll get her old rusty feeble mind working over time. I have over 30 years of mind control to contend with.
