My mom got stumbled by today's Watchtower

The photo on page 26. She noticed it and was wondering before I even brought it to her attention.

Why is it OK for the JW posing as the "worldly person" to wear a cross necklace? Aren't JWs suppose to destroy their crosses prior to becoming a JW no matter the monetary or sentimental value? Why can the Watchtower keep cross necklaces on hand as props? Isn't that supporting Satan and Christendom by buying one? (unless it was a gold chain and they photoshopped a cross onto it)

While she was questioning that, I sarcastically told her to just file it in the back of her mind and ignore it. We shouldn't be questioning. Then I went back a few pages to page 14 and showed her from a previous lesson paragraph 5 "By word or action, may we never challange the channel of communication that Jehovah is using today." She asked what page is that on? She wanted to read it in her own copy of the WT. I told her to read paragraphs 3-5, which she did.

After the meeting she asked a family friend about the cross. The friend didn't notice it, but now that my mom brought it up, he thought it was odd, too. He suggested she ask Brother Elder. She didn't. I told her not to bother anyway, she wasn't going to get an answer that made sense. I left the hall before her. She came home and told me that she ended up asking Brother Elder. He said he "didn't understand why they chose to do that either." I said "what else did you think he was going to say?", that "well, sister, that's because the Watchtower are hypocrites."?

Also, during the meeting I asked her "where's the pedophile is at?" I haven't seen him at the last few meetings. She asked "which one?" (there's 2 in my congregation). I said "the convicted one that you can find on the Internet." 'Ol pedo's been sick lately and not at the meeting. I said "I bet he misses coming here for all of the eye-candy." She said that "people change." I said "pedophiles are sick mentally, and its not right all of these people here with kids have no idea what he is." She agreed. But, added "well, at least I don't think he's allowed in service." I said "yes, they are. They're allowed to go to in service and even study with people who have children." She didn't agree that was right. But, continued trying to justify it so it would make sense to her. "All kinds of people from the world come into the truth."

So, anyway, little by little maybe I'll get her old rusty feeble mind working over time. I have over 30 years of mind control to contend with.

I was friends with a sister in the Photography Dept. at Bethel. She personally went to the store to buy CIGARETTES for a photo shoot.

    Tell her that one.

You know I had the same question when I was at Brooklyn Bethel in the 1970's.

We had a display of religious icons under glass on the Bethel tour. I mean crosses with jewels on them, the real things. As a tour guide, I was asked that same question by visitors, but not having an answer. Why 'unclean things' at Bethel?

So, I asked my overseer. He had the same question but never got around to asking someone. Another Bethel Elder advised us not to ask questions, wasn't worth the trouble. But he thought they were on loan from the Catholic Church. nk

It was also at that time, a Catholic Cardinal visited Bethel. Was some deal going on with the CC? Who knows.....okay....maybe Farkel knows the truth. lol

Just remembered something on the subject. In the early 80's someone blamed them being there on Ray Franz's interfaith apostate movement. njk

Things like that always bugged me. I know real "worldly people" would not even bother to be apart of these photo shoots. I def. paused when I was flipping through the magazine and saw that picture. Now that I'm aware of them being deceitful, I not only pay attention to the words, but the pictures too. My favorite picture so far will be in one of the articles that will be studied in June. It's the one after the new generation explanation. The picutre is clearly portraying Hermione from Harry Potter, wand and all! My favorite character btw, besides Harry himself. I wonder why they didn't portray Harry?

So there must be demons at Bethel?

Hmm, interesting. Thanks for sharing. I didn't know about the cigarettes or the icons at Bethel.

I haven't seen the Hermione knock-off yet. I'll keep an eye out for it when we study that article. I don't even get a kool-aid edition anymore. I use my parents.

Crosses are ok to use, but only in moderation.

I wonder if that could work with cigarettes.

Everyone needs to relax... nothing major going on. You see, it's ok to do something "wrong" so long as it is to benefit the church.

This is no different than the way religious leaders review porn and Harry Potter movies to confirm that they are not suitable for believers.

This is what is known a Righteous Research.
