puts plugs in his ears from the start.. now, it don't seem to be my imagination, but many ladies for some inexplicable reason seem a tad unreasonable at least once a month where anything i do seems to be wrong in their eyes.
most ruddy irksome it is from a guys point of view i can tell ee.
here we are, quite happy in our own right, say something to this here balmpot, and wowwwwww irritable utterances just tumble forth with such degrees of unreasonableness tis almost funny to observe, but dare i laugh in their presence whilst she be in this most unpredictable of states?

Biggs this is great, thanks!
why is it that some people 'rate' threads?
i see them once in awhile, but really don't understand why it is that they do it.
whats the deal?
Though I generally don't rate them, I am somewhat inclined to check out a thread that is well-rated. So in that sense, it does have some influence.
anyone remember the one where kirk got mixed up in the transporter and spit into two people?
one kirk was mean and violent and nasty and tried to feel up yoman rand and swore a lot and attacked people for no good reason.
the other kirk was sweet and nice and he seemed better, but he was kind of a woosie and couldn't make a decision or do anything meaningful except talk about denuvian slime bread toppings and he couldn't even get a bulge in the spandex for yoman rand, but at least he was polite.. gosh, i don't know what made me think of this episode.. night all,.
Wassa, yes, I remember that episode well. I became a fan while the series ran in syndication. I enjoy all the Star Trek series.
Yes, it was interesting - Kirk the wimp and Kirk the animal. An interesting commentary on how various traits and parts of our personality combine to make us 'whole', and how we are incomplete without such seemingly contradictory parts of ourselves left intact.
I was at a local ST convention a few years back with my daughter, who enjoyed Trek alot until she got into her mid teens. We saw John DeLancie ("Q") and Walter Koenig ("Chekov"). We did not dress up. I'm a fan, but I'm not a nut .

My wife suffers from depression, and more than her difficult periods (they are heavy with bad cramping), it was the depression that made things tough. The meds she is takiing now are very helpful.

just wondering if any of you know how far back the publications are archived in their discs, and if anything has been purposely left out, or 'overlooked'.
i want to pick up the complete set, and 'collect them all!'..
as for a donation, what do you suggest i donate when i try to pick up one of these gems?
omg becky, you'd better check with Brooklyn first - you wouldn't want to violate their "Terms Of Agreement" clause that comes with the CD, would you? hehehehe.
hi everyone, i've been reading on this board for some time now because i have some childhood friends that are in this organization, and would like to find out a way i could help them to some how see it for what it really is.

on friday night i watched a report by abc tv's john stossel (in the normal 20/20 time slot) that dealt with how humans are influenced by looks.
it was a re-broadcast, and even though this was the second time i've seen it it was still fascinating.
to demonstrate whether we are influenced by appearance, several scenarios were set up, involving people considered attractive and those considered more 'plain'.
myself, that is the bottom line - as you said, it's what's on the inside that counts.
One note with regard to shortness of men - conversely, I happen to prefer shorter women. Tall women have always intimidated me to some degree. Well, all women intimidate me to some degree I guess. Plus, a shorter woman (5'6 or less) seems easier to hug. My wife is 5'3, and when we hug, we just fit together perfectly.
On the program, one women said that she always dreamed of "gazing up into a man's eyes" thus her preference for a taller guy.
As far as giving compliments goes, at work I see lots of women every day. I have found that by keeping my compliments to a minimum, they carry far more meaning. It's very interesting to read here how some women feel about receiving compliments!

Very interesting replies!!
Mary -
Geeze, do I sound like a frigging whiner, or what????
No, not at all. Your comments are meaningful and much appreciated!
I always enjoy Stossel's reporting too. He seems to tackle some very interesting issues.
The replies thus far have been fascinating!
As for me, I am one also who would like to think that looks don't influence me, but they do. In some ways it's subtle, like the time my wife said she noticed that I would wave a pretty girl through a stop sign with a nice smile on my face. I was not even aware of it, but I guess it was true.
In the program, along the lines of the quote provided by cellmould (thanks cell!), it was mentioned and demonstrated with CAT scans that the brain does indeed respond to that which appears attractive. A certain center in the brain becomes active, and it's the same area that is stimulated by other things that people find exciting. So it appears that we are 'wired' to react to looks to some degree.
