  i was at gilead in 1980 and remember standing in de elevator alone with ray franz, how just gave us a lecture.

  i realize whether you believe in god or the non-existence of god it has to be taken on faith since both positions are unknowable and unprovable.

  however, i can understand faith in god as basically a hope for something better.

  i can also understand agnosticism; admitting it's unknowable but still leaving the door open (perhaps the only intellectually honest option).

  they're supposed to be genuine and loving.. not that you're out of jw friends, what's it like?.

  I have much better friends, who don't judge the movies I have in my house, or the things my kids are wearing. I don't have to put on a different personality when Im around them. I have all kinds, gay, straight, christina, a wiccan. They don't judge me and I dont feel the need to judge them.

  Who do you pray when you feel the need to pray if you dont believe in God?

  sometimes when we face difficult situations i feel the need to pray to god for help, and i know that plenty of times the sole act of praying makes you feel hope and have a better outcome of the situation.

  you can call it suggestive or that you prepare a positive scenario by using faith.

  the outcome is that regardless if there is someone who listens or not to your prayers oftentimes you feel better afterwards and have more positive attitude.. the problem is that i dont believe in god anymore.

  Its not much of a real threat is it? That teaching actually helped me to leave. I figured the worst thing to happen to me was that I'd be dead, I wouldn't be conscience that I'd be dead, so who cares.

  in the april 15, 2010 wt, the new governing body of jw's have once again changed their ever problematic teaching regarding the "generation" that saw the sign jesus spoke of mt: 24:32-34.

  (note, all references to "generation" in this article are in reference to this passage in mt 24).

  the reason that this shows why the governing body is a fraud is very simple.

  I totally agree Restrangled.

  I was reading one of the charts yesterday and realized they used the same b.s wording from the beginning as they do today. Key phrases like, the evidence is, the bible teaches, the facts are, blah, blah, blah. I used to think power got to them as the years went by, or that they didn't know they were deceiving people, but now I see they were manipulating and scaming from the beginning. I've got to find that chart again so I can print it. It just makes me so angry!

  a letter dated december 7, 2009 to all congregations (not sure if it was just the us branch or not) said that the elders should ask the publishers to submit slips of paper anonymously with an amount they would be willing to contribute each month towards either:.

  a: repaying the outstanding, local, kingdom hall loan, or.

  b: if there is no local loan, contributing to the kingdom hall construction fund.. .

  I watched the clip again and Pat clear does not blame the victims

  He merely talks about what happened in their country 200 years ago.

  With respect to you Stephen, it wasn't appropriate for him to bring it up at all.

  It implies to the viewer that because of this pact, either God did this to them out of wrath, or the Devil did it to them. The fact is that earthquakes are a part of nature and sometimes we are unfortunately in the way. I don't doubt that they will send relief to the area, but his implication of blame is unproductive and untrue, the focus should be to help these people, physically, emotionally & spiritually, not on anything else.

  the thing that sucks is that they are very much alive & we are literally less than five miles apart from each other everyday.

  i had a long talk with one of my siblings today.

  i've been getting a really weird vibe lately...today it was confirmed that i will be shunned from here on out from them.

  Sorry snap, you never know, though, something you said may click in their heads one day and you left the door open for them to talk to you if they would ever like to. We were all (them) at one time, we shunned others too and one day something finally clicked in the brain. At least, should it happen, they will have you to turn to and not be totally alone.
