It's supposed to be soooooo terrifying, scary and utterly frightening. When that "day" comes, it's supposed to be horriffic! But why? Eventually, you will be dead. Plenty of people have died under torturous conditions, total despair and without hope. So what? It happens.
Why are JWs so frightened over that "day"? Big deal.
Big deal. Everybody dies sooner or later, including the JWs. Better to live free today than live as a programmed automaton.

Dying at Armageddon sound inifinitely superior than living forever under WT control.
But the Great Tribulation is supposed to be so frightening.
The big deal is living forever. After sacrificing your life to a book publishing company, you need to feel that there has to be more to life, or you would have wasted what you have been given.
ROFL...said something similar when in a field service car group when I was a teenager. Everyone turned around and looked at me as if I were the devil himself. Will never forget that.

Its not much of a real threat is it? That teaching actually helped me to leave. I figured the worst thing to happen to me was that I'd be dead, I wouldn't be conscience that I'd be dead, so who cares.
I remember the first time I had this thought, I was 14 or so. Just got baptized and received a lot of adoration for being a hot shot. And I was dealing with my own private thoughts and desires that I would not share. (thats the key isn't it? They induce so much guilt that you tell on yourself)
And I said to my wise old 14 year old self: "You know, my soul doesn't live on. There is no torture. So even if this life is all there is to me, if I die, thats it. I will be at peace while JW's populate the earth. I don't want to sin, but if I do and die, there are worse things to have happen" Gotta love the morbid thoughts this cult inspires in teenagers.
There is nothing to be scared of by destruction by Jehovah. Since he merely indiscriminately kills instead of torturing people (except for WT studies conducted by 80 year old elders) the worse thing you get by pissing of Jehovah is not being alive anymore.
So the choice is, live forever with Jehovah's Witnesses, or be peacefully "asleep" in the ground.

According to Watchtower theology, bad people, ranging from those who don't take a Watchtower during the last days to Judas Iscariot to Adolf Hitler all get the same treatment. An eternal dirt nap.
As a JW, Matthew 18:6 never made any sense to me:
"But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea." New Intl. Version
OK, so what if you leave the "little ones" alone, but don't joint the JWs? Or don't serve 100% whole-souled? You get the same millstone.
Death is death is death, per the WT. If fear of punishment is all that's guiding your life, there's no incentive to avoid ever-deeper pits of evil.
Glad WT theology isn't the only way of looking at the world.
