  That one really suprised me. They were playing the game in school, when my kids were little and all the witness parents in the area were in an uproar.

  Does the new Catholic scandal help or hurt in exposing the WT abuse scandals?

  with all the attention being paid to new allegations of abuse cover-up in the catholic church i wonder:.

  1. does this take the heat off the wts and are they hoping to slide through less scrutinized while the pope gets skewered by the media?

  will the wts be stupid enough to try to capitalize on the catholics problems by printing articles critical of them?.

  I feel much better now that you've added to my insignificant thread...

  Your thread is not insignificant. I'm pretty vocal about this topic on the colorado springs exjw meetup. I get emails all the time from witnesses coming out of the organization asking about the scandals. They never heard about it. You never know who could be lurking at your thread, Under Cover, and something they read here may jolt their thinking.

  The wt, wants all their people to believe that theirs is a pure organization, and if there is something wrong, they will protect us. There's probably more dirt hid under the rug than we may ever know. I appreciate your thread.

  I think #1 will be the case. There are many Jw's who still don't know about the settlements. Why? Because The Watch Tower places all the attention on other groups, condemning them, pointing fingers, all the while they have their own problems that they just don't bring up, unless, of course, it ends up on TV.

  What was your initial reaction to finding out the religion is a cult?

  mine was filled with shock and anger but mostly anger.

  it made me feel that way because i have never been lied to like that growing up in the religion with it being all you know.

  I felted shocked & betrayed, but because I kept having these little thoughts "but what if it really is the truth?" I couldn't go from anger to happiness. It took me a good year to get those thoughts out of my head. I wanted to believe it was the truth, I didn't want to believe that I had been suckered and that I had in turn, taught my children wrong.

  I'm very happy being out now. Once I was able to disable the belief in the governing body, I was able to move on.

  jws cannot get involved with politics.

  exjws certainly can and based upon responses from this site, many are quite opinionated about political matters.. are you very involved in politics at this point in your life?

  do you really believe that your opinion, your vote means all that in the big scheme of things?

  Hi Paul, Jeff gave good advice. There have been weeks at my barber shop, I wanted to throw in the towel, then the next week, things get hopping again. Just spend the money you do receive in the best way possible, and save for the slow times.
