fruit of the loom
by John Doe ini remember as a child, before i knew what a "loom" was, i thought it must have been a groin, and therefore the fruit of the loom was dangly bits.
after all, that's what fruit of the looms protects, right?
what misconceptions did you have as a child?.

What do you do when you get a headache?
by asilentone ini get them from time to time.
do you take pain killers?
i know that the pain killers are not the safest way to do it.

Marlene
Using the 'neti pot' always helps clear up my headaches (and allergies). It's also good for parlor tricks :)

My Boyfriend's not a Witness...
by Hikaru inalright, with my last post it should be obvious i'm in conflict...if it's not, then yeah.. my boyfriend is not a witness.
he understands that witnesses can't marry or date non witnesses.
but i guess could say we've been stalling...looking for a solution a gray area to that black and white situation...but with time getting as it is...stalling doesn't work anymore.

If he doesn't convert, he dies? I can't live with knowing that....
What a cheery thought. You actually believe that? I suggest some counseling. A girl so young should not be preoccupied with death.

Ouija Board Hysteria
by Megachusen ini always wondered why jw's were always so afraid of ouija(pronounced as "wee-yaw" not "wee-gee") boards.
does anyone have any speculation about who started these jw myths?.
anyone who has actually tried the board and would like to give their opinions are welcome.
-
Marlene
I already know the names of my siblings and what types of pets I own. Does the board provide useful answers? Like which stocks I should invest in? What mechanism needs to be fixed in my furnace....what is the replacement part # and where can I buy it? What is going to happen in the third season of Gossip Girl?

Halloween- When you were a JW did you answer the door?
by IWillBeDubbedNoMore ini am watching the movie "the perfect world", and they have a scene of a jw family eating dinner and then the doorbell rings and the mother answers the door with her kids following behind.
she opens the door and there are several costumed children saying "trick of treat".
the jw mother says that they don't participate in such activities.

lol Farkel. If we had been home, I suspect my mom would've made us do the same thing.
I recall one Halloween falling on a Friday (our service meeting night chosen to prevent the cong youths from partying)...my mom left a note on our front door that said "No Treats". When we returned home from the meeting the note was torn down and our front porch covered in fake blood (or maybe real blood knowing how pagan little kids are!) Good memories.

this is my first post on this forum after months of reading and lurking on here.
i'm glad to be able to say that my husband and i finally sent our letter saying we want out and are wait to hear back for a potential jc meeting--that we won't be attending.. we had so many doubts it was impossible for us to continue living the lie.

Bought another new, "booger free", book.
by Gregor inif there are any civil war buffs here i highly recommend "southern storm, shermans march to the sea" noah trudeau.
compiled from letters, diaries, newspapers, weather reports, etc.
to give a detailed, day by day account of the historical military episode.. only a couple hundred pages into it but it is like being there.

Marlene
If you thought of the things people are perfectly happy to put in their mouths, boogers wouldn't seem like such a big deal.
Care to elaborate?? ;)
Speaking of books, I just picked up a great one for the kids:

Huge development concerning Watchtower.org and "apostate" comments.
by DT inwouldn't you love to comment on the watchtower.org site so that other visitors can see what you think about their doctrinal flip flops, false prophecies and dangerous medical practices?.
it's no surprise that watchtower.org doesn't allow comments.
they know that "apostates" would point out the embarrassing details about their religion and history.

I agree w/ Inbreed's comment above

The WTS and Frequent Liar Points
by Hopscotch ini have read on here of the frequent flyer points racked up by bethelites etc on wts business and it made me think of this.. .
frequent liar points.
the wts has told so many lies to its members, the public and the media that if there were points accumulated for frequent lies then surely they would have a huge tally of them.. .
