it's clear that virtually everyone on here is infuriated by wt teachings/doctrines/practices, but i would really like to know what is of most concern to people who frequent this forum.. here is my top 5, number 1 being the most significant/infuriating:.
the disfellowshipping practice - expanded to include family members (but not parents) who are old enough to leave home.
wrecks families and creates abject fear once people find out the truth about the organization.the blood issue - another unmerciful teaching, but one that costs lives.unquestioned authority of governing body - a handful of men make life-altering decisions as representatives of a larger group of people who they never see or speak to, and yet they demand unquestioning obedience on pain of being disfellowshipped.failed prophecy - the fulfilment of huge swathes of bible prophecy, including revelation, has been attributed to the events of the early 20th century, and the actions of a small group of men.two-tier christianity - faithful and discreet slave are anointed who go to heaven to whom ransom provisions apply directly, whereas remainder, or "great crowd" stay on earth and form a sub-class, only access benefits of ransom through fds.i realise that many of these issues are inter-related, but that's roughly how i would put them.
1. df'ing and shunning
2. blood policy
3. the rest don't matter that much to me, but these two are dangerous so they matter.
Also, when a jw, having to turn in fs time slips really bothered me. I used to feel like I was playing a numbers game. I could see how the numbers really mattered, when they should have had no place in a truely christlike organization.

one set of people listened to a wonderful thinker and marvelled at his words and the life he led and his kindnesses.. they were moved by him.. most of the profound words he spoke were difficult and mysterious to the point of being elusive to the mind.. when this man was violently arrested, tortured, accused and executed the shock and awe was devastating.. .
what was the reason for all this--what did he really mean to tell us?.

I think it went a bit further. I think Jesus was in a state of shock and appeared, and he came to while in the tomb. Maybe he even had an NDE (near death experience). I think he himself thought he had been resurrected and his followers naturally also believed he was resurrected when he came out of the tomb. And it all began from there.
so at what point did god say....now you are human... your name is adam!.
a new skull has been found of a human ancestor 2 million years old.
when will mere evidence be enough?
I read in one of the Watching the World of a few years ago, they mentioned Neanderthals, as if the Watchtower accepts them. And they were another hominid. I wonder if it was a "rogue" jw in the writing department that got that in. It was quoting some scientific mention of them. There was nothing about what the Watchtower thinks of them. And they know from genetics that we humans have some Neanderthal genes from past interbreeding.

On your link at the top, as soon as I clicked on it, I get a message that I had viruses and asked if I wanted to run a program to clean my computer. Like a dummy, I did so. My husband is now cleaning off the virus which was the program I ran to rid my computer of viruses. Apparently some jw got a virus in to that link, Barbara, just to inform you. I'm on hubby's computer now, so I won't click on the second link given, just to be safe.

all animals, but especially pets.. do they have rather low opinions of animals, veiwing them more as objects to be used and treated however one wishes- after all, god gave them to us for our pleasure, or as "jehovah's creatures" which must be cared for and loved?.
i've seen both veiws, some more extreme than others.. i do think there's a tendency to treat animals less as living creatures that should be respected, and more as unfeeling things.. .
i get a lot of phony *"don't you just love jehovah's beautiful creation?
I knew two mothers who would not let their kids have pets because of the time it would take to care for them. Their excuse was they'd be the one to care for them and they didn't have time. You can bet why they were so worried about their time, so much to do in the org. One family finally let their second son get a hamster. They talked about it as if it were this big deal. They'd tell about watching it run in its wheel. And the other one, her one son wanted a dog badly all his life, but he never got one. I think that's terrible to deny a kid a pet just because the parent says they don't have time because there is so little time with all the jw crap to keep up with. But I knew others who had them, some had lots. The org, I think, shows veiws against pets, I've seen articles talk about letting other things crowd out your time, including pets.

Absolutely, but it comes from the heart, not "head knowledge" that jws always brag about having.
