Well basically,we're saying the world would be exactly the same. The accepted truths of today (math, science) would be accepted truth. And disputed things (like religion, best government, laws) would still be disputed.

IF we erased all history... WHAT "truth" would emerge in time?
by AK - Jeff ini posit that if we put mankind into a state of suspended animation, erased his memory, and removed all traces of recorded human thinking over the ages, that given a few thousand years after his wake-up science and it's principles would have been rediscovered, reaffirmed.
all the sound principles would be once again discovered and leveraged into powerful technologies along lines similar to those we see today.
in other words, gravity, thermodynamics, astromony, magnetism, and physics of the universe would eventually be considered 'true', and verifible.

Goldman Sachs announced today that this is the best opportunity to buy stocks in a decade. Did they just signal a market top and want all the pigeons err suckers err investors to jump in again or will this rally continue.
Besides, i guess... 3 months ago? Or three years ago?

Strategically, the GB should accept 587
by I Want to Believe inright now, the 587/607 is a major weak link; doctrines can be argued in circles for days, but the overwhelming evidence for 587 is damning to their entire theology, and it can be found with very little effort.
however, if they just bite the bullet and "new light" a 587 date for jerusalem's destruction it solves a lot of their problems:.
-removes their main weak secular point of argument.

I hate to disagree. Let sleeping dogs lie. 99% of everyone just blindly accepts the given "explanations" just like they do for anti-evolutionary information.

Attended a JW funeral the other day
by uk_ex_jw ini had an account on here sometime ago but forgot the login, but i often read the site.. a long-term friend of mine, a jw, asked me to go to his grandmothers jw funeral a few weeks ago.. i was hesitant obviously.
i haven't been to a kh in over 5 years.. i am not df/da.
i decided to quit in 2007 following my failed marriage to a jw.. the person who died was a very well-respected jw pioneer.

Yeah Poztate, its pretty incredible. No need to eulogize the individual at all. The original poster's estimation that it was 60% doctrinal, 40% about the individual would actually be quite a personalized talk for the witnesses.
I went to a funeral a few months ago and it was probably 95% doctrinal. Besides "xxxxx believed..." the person was scarcely mentioned at all outside the first 5 minutes. Very sad.

Pretty neat. I remember doing the Gorilla thing and I certainly missed it. I definitely knew that the picture with the crowds in Tieneman square was wrong. There' s a picture on there with Abe Lincoln saying photos have been faked to convince people he had a beard... hmm, I'm pretty sure he DID have a beard, no?

"This Speech Is Shocking"
by BroMac in*** w06 7/15 p. 22 focus on the goodness of jehovahs organization ***.
this speech is shocking.
13 whereas some in the first century murmured against appointed servants, others were murmurers against jesus teachings.

Regarding Emmanuel in Paragraph 15, they forgot the part that he returned just in time because his new friends were all heavily addicted to cocaine, heroin and bestiality and that he was about to get sucked into their sordid practices.

Do you stil have Jw stuff
by d ini still have jw stuff like bibles and watchtower i have to get rid of.
do you any of you guys and girls here have stuff you to get rid of..
-
simon17
Some stuff yeah. No need to throw out useful things like suits or briefcases. I believe I have my first talk and public talk outlines probably. I'm happy to have moved on, but I don't think its necessary to forget who I once was: after all, that is the key to understanding who I have become.

i also think of them as "how could i have been so stupid?

The point seems valid to me. No more sipping merlot while lounging on those Gesthemane lazy boys. After that it was all pointy rocks and Red Bull.

are jw the most dispised religion by the public?
by mP ini remember going to a new school, and before i said anything there were a few kids poking fun at jehovah.
jehovah this and that .
at no stage did i ever hear anyone mention any other god or religion in conversation or playground banter.

In my experience I think JW's are like the quiet awkward kid who sits alone at lunch in middle school. He's generally nice to people and so everyone feels a little bit sorry for him, but not enough to really go over and sit with him.
