Can't pass up this topic. I absolutely LOVE rock concerts. Just saw Aerosmith and Kid Rock twice this past month and it was sooo much fun. No problem with the crowds at all. Also saw Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth this summer. Oh, and by the way, I'm 50. Makes me feel like a kid for a few hours. I do pay for it the next day, however. But it is worth it.

Sad isn't it? When we were "in" we really did believe that it was us that had the problem. We don't realize that it isn't us until we get out and start to think for ourselves again.

May have to DA
by jaded ini know this is a subject that has been discussed at length on this board.
until now i went along with "not playing their game" and not daing.
now after bill bowen has been disfellowshipped i am feeling embarrassed and ashamed to ever have been associated with this unloving, hypocritical, corrupt organization.

Thanks for the replies! I'm still undecided. Think I will let hubby read this thread and get his input. We are among the lucky ones. Our kids never bought into the load of crap and we have no close relatives who are "in". Of course we are shunned because we do not attend meetings. We do keep a little bit of contact with a couple of families that we really care about. Would love to help them get out someday but they have families who are in so their cirucumstances are different. And as everyone says, if they shun us they really were not true friends to begin with. We are starting to mention things about the pedophile situation and the NGO so I doubt that they will be too surprised if we DA. Will let you all know what I decide. Thanks again.

I know this is a subject that has been discussed at length on this board. Until now I went along with "not playing their game" and not DAing. Now after Bill Bowen has been disfellowshipped I am feeling embarrassed and ashamed to ever have been associated with this unloving, hypocritical, corrupt organization. The thought that I am listed somewhere as an inactive Dub is sickening. I no longer consider myself a JW and don't want anyone else to think that I am. I have a decision to make.
I am just wondering if anyone else is now feeling this way.

I am outraged! Not only at this stupid excuse of a religion but at myself for ever having been a part of it! Bill, you have many people to support you here and I am proud to be among them. I wish you and your family peace of mind knowing that you have done the right thing.

The Privilege of Handling the Microphones
by minimus inone of the most unbelievable privileges that a brother could have was being a microphone handler.
elders would discuss brothers for hours and see whether or not we would allow them to mow the lawn or handle a mike.
i always felt that these brothers were doing us a favor but if they didn't get a minimum of 10 hours in per month, they were dog crap and couldn't have any privileges.

Oh the memories...What a joke! When my husband was in charge of the sound he asked a couple of mature brothers to carry the mike's who were not on the "list". Boy did he ever hear about that!
The funniest thing though was one Sunday when the Watchtower study started and who should be carrying the mike but a newly baptized little boy. And I do mean little. Very small for his age. He must have been about ten, looked more like six. OMG, I looked over at a friend and we both had looks of shock on our faces. Then I looked at my daughter and we just about lost it. Of course he was an elder's son. It's all in who you know and how much ass you are willing to kiss.
I am so glad to be FREE!

Newsweek Letter Writer Silenced
by silentlambs inthe following email was sent to me today, if anyone would like to send and encouraging comment to loris i will be glad to forward it to her.
all she did was tell the truth and now she is facing sanction in the congregation.
so according to wt pr you are not sanctioned if you go to the police but you are sanctioned if you talk about it.

Good for you loris! More Silent lambs will be helped when people are not afaid to speak up. And the WTS will be exposed for the hypocritical organization it is! I applaud you for taking a stand and not backing down.
