what evidence do we have to prove otherwise that similar authority wasn't given to the genius in brooklyn since 1919 to care for the masters assets here on earth?

when paul warned of experiencing shipwreck, he had in mind some who had thrust aside their good conscience and had lost their faith.
(1 timothy 1:19) among them were hymenaeus and alexander who fell into apostasy, deviating from the truth and speaking abusively.

Well, of course God could use men today. Emphasis on "could". Hypothetical. If he is, it's obviously not in the same way as it was back then. God may not change, but that doesn't mean he cannot or does not use a different method. God using men like the prophets of old was really the exception rather than the rule. The Israelites were in Egypt for hundreds of years before Moses came along. Generations lived and died before God-fearing men like Elijah and other prophets rose up. After the Babylonian exile, hundreds of years pass before the Messiah arrived.
So, my point is, that's possible, but not necessarily certain or even likely.

okay, i don't mean to rant but i am not sure where to turn.
the issues that i am having with my wife are not related to her being a jw but it does make me think of other situations where the religion is credited for the jw spouse's exceptional behavior (even when it has nothing to do with the religion).. my wife has her heart set on going to disney this year, but she has no real plan on saving the money to go.
in addition to this, she needs have some money to replace her lost income over the summer when she takes her internship to get her teacher's license.
Hmm. Your plan is clearly more logical. And boy is she fortunate to have so little credit debt! You should see my bill. Maybe I ought to send you a copy so you can show her the consequences of her decision. I'm paying $174 in interest alone every month on credit cards. Trust me, your plan is better. I guess you can't make her do anything, but that's a bad idea.
If you're willing to, you might wish to have a serious talk with her about managing the debt. I only use my credit cards because by the time I'm finished paying my bills and for my needs, I'm just about out of cash anyway. Because of paying so much interest. Vicious cycle, long story, don't date the unemployed, don't need to say any more.
Stow Disneyland until next year. It can wait. It'll probably still be there, whereas the debt doesn't have to be.

That is true, but Peter was still just a man and in need of correction by means of holy spirit and sometimes by means of his fellow Christians. Holy spirit had already made the decision to open the Kingdom to Gentiles before Peter met Cornelius. Peter had to catch up to God's will and be convinced to follow it, as did the rest of the congregation back then. (Acts 10, 15)
Either way, 2,000 years later, there is no parallel individual or group of individuals who could even remotely act with the spirit, power, and authority that Peter did. As the Society is so fond of quoting, 1 Cor. 13:8. In the end, it is those who show greater love towards all, not just their own kind, who will have any measure of real authority.

Agreed, mankkeli. Just be clear on who it is you are being faithful to. Being one of Jehovah's Witnesses and performing the works involved with it have no actual bearing on the hope of salvation. No more than keeping the Law as the Jews did would accomplish anything for them. (See Galatians, just read the entire letter for that.)

Well, sab, he has thrown the gauntlet. I just happen to have time to take it up today. And it may not make a difference today; it certainly didn't for me, 2-3 years ago. But he'll think about it tomorrow. And the next day. And the next. It is my hope never to twist the mind of anyone or get them to share my belief, but rather to come to their own conclusion, to weigh my words and see if they're valid or not. If he's willing to do so, even if he disagrees today, let him be. If not, the same. We can dance again in the future, and hopefully he might have a more valid position to argue from, if he can find it.
I don't doubt this thread could continue till the cows come home. He was at least willing to credit me as having a solid position, so maybe he's reasonable enough to not necessarily be trolling but maybe...fishing in his own way.
Of course, I may be wrong.

the following watchtower article comment blew my mind!
check it out:.
questions from readers.
Well, that is very interesting. Then isn't the Society thus condemning themselves, as they routinely use such terms about sincere people who just happen to disagree with their teachings? Intriguing.
So are you really new here? That's very insightful. You've obviously got a keen mind. Keep using it.

I'll add again, the Paradise earth was never a major focus in my spiritual life; I felt it was more important to be obedient to God and keep myself spiritually clean. I preferred to worry about the Paradise when I got there. God never had to bribe me; I believed that doing things his way was the right thing and for that reason alone was worth the struggle. I still believe that living a life of moral uprightness is the right thing to do, regardless of my eternal future.

You have solidly refuted the WT's claims
I'm sorry, did I read that correctly? Well, thank you for acknowledging the logic of my position. I also appreciate your rebuttal--I'm sorry, this was not entirely in your own words, but it is equivalent to your rebuttal.
did you sink because paradise has refused to be established on earth?
Well, hopefully no one has. Any who were stumbled needlessly are on the conscience of the Watchtower Society and its agents, who share the blame for publishing misleading and false promises regarding the Kingdom. The delay of the Kingdom's arrival did nothing to impact my faith. I found it more damaging to my faith that men were willing to resort to unchristian, legalistic methods in order to keep me loyal to their organization.
Attending the meetings sponsored by the individuals who are willfully responsible for teaching falsehoods--and continue to hold to a position of moral and spiritual superiority with a false pretense of God-given authority--would put me in the same, or worse, position than if I went to another random Christian church. I could not in good conscience continue to preach their message. I use what opportunities I find to explain the message of Jesus Christ in my everyday life. Without anyone looking over my shoulder to make sure I'm spending enough hours doing so.
If refusing to continue sharing responsibility for the wrongs of a group of men is equivalent to spiritual shipwreck in your mind, I have no problem whatsoever with your viewing me as 'shipwrecked'. I, for one, loved being one of Jehovah's Witnesses, especially because I believed they had the truth. However, realities of their rules and doctrine forced me to reconsider my position. Having spent considerable time in study and research regarding the Bible and this organization's history, I concluded that I had been wrong--this religion was not 'the truth' at all, but had merely been what I assumed was the truth. Honest examination forced me to reject what I could no longer accept as true, and to face the consequences of that choice.
