Suzi, my deepest apologies. I never saw the other posts until just now.
I understand at least why you would do such an insanely drastic thing as start an entire thread. My eyes have been opened.
As to "Philo" and the words used, they offended me, and I am not easily offended. Philo's attack (for it can be called by no other name) was undeserved, and completely unasked for. Moreso, it was cowardly and petty.
This thread was begun with a light-hearted request to discuss Life, the Universe, and Everything -- an excellent book by an extremely talented author, may Doug rest in peace-- and it has been sullied.
Alan, Philo, I am gravely disappointed in your unwarranted attacks on a woman that clearly was trying to make a place where she could be accepted.
That does not necessarily mean that I have accepted Ms. Mayhem's concepts of reality. It merely means that she and I have agreed to disagree.
