Bethel Meeting at Regional Convention
by MrTheocratic ini decided to go to the bethel recruiting meeting yesterday to test out my theory that the organization is in decline.
i assumed that if there is a general feeling of apathy by many in the org, then certainly it would be shown up by the lack of enthusiasm or zeal by many to sign up for bethel service.
well let me say that based on what i observed, this organization is not going anywhere.

people can be as comited as they like but if the jws have no money then ir really makes things difficult eg they have closed 20 branch offices down acording to the jw website and if they keep having child abuse cases,in the uk they have got possibly 6 new cases coming up.and acording to steven letts their is more money going out than coming in.what would happen if they have to sell bethel in new york off, woops they have had to do that already :-) -

Cant we put financial pressure on the Borg?
by 1tMakesNoSence inwhy dont everyone just start taking publications, asking for more and just say you don't have any money.
.
if everyone does this, can't we put some significant financial pressure on the borg?.

No neither individual jw's nor kingdom halls pay for literature but headquarters, elders from each kingdom hall order what they think they will need.In two big citys that i have been too these past months on the trolleys they have been giving away a teaching book from 2006 and this last week the OLD VERSION of "what does the bible really teach" i even got a teaching book from 1998 as well.If you say that a teaching book costs just for the paper ink and transport costs $1 and if 5000 people take a teaching book per week that would be $260,000 per year. Also if bethel need money to keep the 900 people that work there then they will close kingdom halls anyway. If you saw the happy video from bethel they seen to have dental workers,i doubt if the bethel folk pay for any treatment and also cobblers to mend shoes -

"Friends" are confused who and where they should be donating!
by thedepressedsoul inas most of you are aware there is a money issue inside of jw land.
they could be running out of money or they're just wanting more.
either way, they are making it appear as a funds issue to motivate individuals to donate more.

Watchtower & Awake Subscriptions
by Amazing inin another thread the point was made that the wts is ending subscriptions to the watchtower and awake!
magazines.
isp rightly commented the following, "the wts gets double payment for the mags from the r+f......so subscribers are not cost effective!".

Views on handing out literature during field service
by Joey Jo-Jo init is brought to my attention that some non jw's deliberately accept jw literature just to throw it in the bin.. their intentions are perceived as positive meaning these non jw's throwing their magazines away is a good thing.. what is your view on the matter?.
should they accept or not accept their literature, and why?.
is accepting literature benefiting or damaging the cult, and why?.

Trolley Witnessing Saves Money?
by TTATTelder ini was just wondering, do you think the trolley cart stationary witnessing is to slow down the literature distribution at not-at-homes?.
it basically traps several shifts of pioneers to a cart or table and keeps the placement count way down compared to leaving something at every door in a neighborhood.. is money the main motivation here?
(besides staged facebook pics lol).

Are the trolley dollies* getting any results? Or, is it just another waste of life?
by fulltimestudent insteve2 initiated a discussion on how our former loving brothers and sisters are behaving, while engaging in the 'trolley work.
' (link: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/93590001/within-one-minute-jw-trolley-directs-me-jw-org ).
my own observations are the same as the posters report on steve2's thread.

Within one minute JW with trolley directs me to JW.org
by steve2 ini live in relatively small seaside community (regional population around 45,000).
in my ten years here, i've had witnesses call on me perhaps twice (not special visits but during door-to-door).
whereas they once canvassed door-to-door much more frequently - and in larger size service groups - there is quite a decline in their door-knocking - at least in this region.. with the advent of the "trolley" work, their visibility has increased - but i'd estimate only marginally.

In a major city this week they had a trolley full of teaching books that were printed in 2006 and none of the silver "what does the bible really say" but the old ones some of the books ive taken just these past weeks have been from 1998
