  so my sister in law is scanning all the old family pictures.

  with my brother a very long time ago.

  our parents are from texas, hence the visit to the old shrine.

  this is sorta directed to you as asking rather then telling... i am studying the bible and go to many teachers/sources of the bible... (my sins are being paid for and thus my credit as a christian in no way is held high enough to make claims of im right or your wrong in the eyes of a jw, but im still being humble and live now according to gods standards with my study in the bible and christian believes, so be open minded to the facts of my credit to your idea of standards) my views are expressed below thru use of the bible regarding the comment you made on this thread.... .

  i recently enlisted in the army as active duty, havnt left yet, and am wondering if it is concientiously okay to do this as a christian?

  keep in mind there is a good chance i will see combat.

  i have already made my decision but am interested to hear others views.

  wobble... yeah, that's kinda how it is for my family that are active and considered in good standing, but even the irregular ones have this thinking. They don't want to know, they just have their faith and belief (which is limited by JW control), and wish and pray for a miracle.

  Doctrines don't hold them... fear does.

  Birthdays: Anniversaries of baby showers?

  well, aren't they?

  my jw father is arguing with me about holidays and birthdays so i asked him what baby showers were and how they differed from birthdays?

  if mother's day and father's day are wrong, how is a baby's day (shower) not idolatry too?.

  You can celebrate the birth of a baby but not the anniversary of

  the birth of the baby.
