My mother is on that same nonsense. She told me quite frankly, if I ever leave Jehovah, she's through with me. I said to myself, no pressure huh.

You shouldn't call it whining. I prefer to call it, getting it off your chest. Not to be critical of you, but I remember when you first started posting about how much you loved her and was going to marry her despite having reservations due to your own personal crisis of conscience with the WTS. I thought to myself, what is he doing marrying her? But you've done that. I wouldnt disprespect you by saying, "man up", cuz you manned up more than I currently have the balls to do. Tip my hat off to you for your firmness during those judicial committees. I just wonder if its time for you to take it to another level, and draw your line in the stand with your wife. I'm single, but I know enough about relationships to know that both parties have to give and take, and from your posts, I'm under the impression that you're taking far more than what's warrented. She's getting her cake and eating it too. Sometimes a man has got to be man.
When I was younger, guys always told me to never get married. After reading your posts..........I'm thinking those dudes gave me good advice. You have a gift for writing. Some people post here, and I don't always read all of it, and I'm sure people don't read all my long winded posts. With your posts however, I read every word. The one thing your posts have confirmed for me, love doesnt seem to be the greatest reason to get married.

Ruining it for everyone else
by RR ini was chatting with a born-again friend of mine, who just moved to north carolina.
we worked in the post office together and he got transfered to nc.. we were talking about witnesses and he told me that at his office there is a jw.
this is what happened.. at the office they have a cd player and so they decided they would take turns playing a particular style of music each day.. my friend said, the jw had no problems with rap and its explicit lyrics, or the rock with his sex and drugs, but the moment they play contemporary christian music she caught a fit and they shut down the whole thing because of her complaint.

I can speak from experience on this to a degree I think. I grew up on rap music, hip-hop, whatever you want to call it. When I was younger, I used to have conscience attacks, and toss all my rap cassettes in the trash. My mother would sometimes go through my music and pitch what she found immoral. Later as CDs replaced cassettes, I would build a collection, and either I, or my mother would toss those too, only to relapse occasionally. Nowadays I still listen to some of it, but some of the language makes me cringe as I've gotten older. I can't tolerate explicite sex talk any longer. But some of the 90ish-early 2000ish angst still appeals to me for some reason. Loved CMW's Music to Driveby, and Ice Cube's Death Certificate.
But going back to Christian music...... I don't know if you're familiar with a chain of fast food joints called Chik Fil A? They play gospel music in their independent stores. Now typically I would get their tenders and potato wedges in the mall where you would just hear mall music. However when they built their own little spot in a local shopping district, I stopped in. I ate there, while reading a newspaper. The gospel music made me uncomfortable. Really uncomfortable. To the point I almost took my food to eat it in the car. I toughed it out, but I havent been in that joint since. Its ridiculous looking back on it. Thinking about it now as I'm typing, I think I justify my listening to questionable music the same way most people justify watching violent movies whether they're JW or not. The same way Schindler's List was on national television at 8pm when children were still up and people justified it based on it being historical. However gospel music has a different effect on my conscience. My whole life I've had the Babylon the Great teaching shoved down my throat. From my childhood onward I've been taught to view Churches as the dwelling and lurking place of demons. I view the Cross around people's necks with pitiful disgust. Catholic Priests are synonymous with pedophiles to me, one in the same even though one of the most wanted in the US is a former JW Elder. You get the point though. "False Religion" is looked upon more harshly than questionable entertainment amongst JWs. I can see why that woman was uncomfortable.

Is it me, or lately does it seem like people are becoming more and more lawless? Granted, you hear stories like this every now and then. However between this, and people making threats over the Health Care bill, immigration reform, the political and social divide in this country......it just seems like times are becoming increasingly chaotic. Maybe thats the JW side of me rearing its head, but lately the future doesnt look too bright. People just do whatever it is they want to do nowadays. Maybe I'm just getting older, I don't know.

Do you think Roethlesberger would be suspended if he was black?
by UnConfused inhttp://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-goodell-roethlisberger&prov=ap&type=lgns.
pacman jones was never charged with a crime, yet was suspended for a year and then more i believe.
i'm not defending the actions of jones, but based on those standards big ben has now been accused twice of sexual assult.

"The first gold-digger, woman never even went to the police. She just immediately went for the civil suit, which says to me at least, she was looking for quick pay day, hoping he'd just settle out of court."
Have you read the actual lawsuit she filed? It's pretty graphic and not quite so evident that she's a gold-digger.

I don't think he'll be suspended, but I also don't think it has anything to do with race.
Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

I think its too early to say that just yet. These are ongoing investigations with nothing substantial proven just yet, if ever. The first gold-digger, woman never even went to the police. She just immediately went for the civil suit, which says to me at least, she was looking for quick pay day, hoping he'd just settle out of court.
The current floozy investigation is still under way. There may or may not be any charges filed at all. Its too early to tell.
Pac Man on the other hand, had a whole list of problems, off the field prior to the night club shooting. I had to Google it , cuz I couldnt remember them all..........

July 13, 2005: Two weeks before training camp is scheduled to begin, Jones is arrested by Nashville police at Titans headquarters. He is charged with assault and felony vandalism stemming from a nightclub altercation.
Sept. 5, 2005: Six days before the season opener at Pittsburgh, Jones attends the annual Nashville Sports Council Kickoff Luncheon. Later, Jones has a loud, verbal tantrum when told he must wait in line for his vehicle, according to witnesses. He does not pay for valet service.
Oct. 25, 2005: Five days before the eighth game of the season, it is alleged by the state of West Virginia that Jones has violated the terms of his probation, going back to a suspended sentence after a barroom brawl during his freshman year at college. A judge extends his probation 90 days.
Feb. 6, 2006: Jones is arrested in Fayetteville, Ga., and charged with possession of marijuana. He is handcuffed after throwing a punch at an officer, according to police, and charged with a felony count of obstruction and two misdemeanors of obstructing police. The drug charge is dismissed in January 2007, although his mother Deborah and a friend, Marcus Bowens, are convicted of possession of marijuana. Jones will appear in court later this month to face the obstruction charges.
March 23, 2006: A Fayette County drug task force SWAT team serves a search warrant at the Georgia home Jones bought for his mother. When Jones steps out of his Corvette, a drug investigator notices that the car reeks of marijuana. Jones admits to police he has been smoking and that it will be several weeks before he is able to pass a drug test.
April 18, 2006: According to Nashville police, who cite surveillance camera footage, Jones is one of 12 people gathered at a gas station when a fight breaks out and gunshots are fired.
Aug. 25, 2006: Jones is arrested in Murfreesboro, Tenn., for disorderly conduct and public intoxication. At the Sweetwater Saloon, he is accused of assault by Toya Garth, who says Jones spit in her face and she spit back. A judge sentences Jones six months probation provided he stays out of further trouble.
Oct. 26, 2006: Jones is cited for misdemeanor assault at Club Mystic, a Nashville nightclub, where he allegedly spits in the face of a female college student. He is suspended for one game by the Titans, on Nov. 5 at Jacksonville.
Feb. 19, 2007: Jones is present when an early morning brawl breaks out at Minxx Gentlemen's Club in Las Vegas. Three people are shot. Club co-owner Robert Susnar claims the shooter -- still at large -- acted on Jones' behalf. Jones denies this. No charges have been brought against Jones.
Ben strikes me as a dumb jock who's underestimating the extent of attention he recieves due to his celebrity status, and the problems associated with it. Pac Man, who I actually liked by the way, strikes me as someone who can't quite sever his street ties. There comes a time when you gotta look at the people around you and question whether or not they're a hinderance or not. At the end of the day, i don't think Roethlesberger will be suspended if these investigations turn up nothing. Rather I see this upcoming meeting with the commish as a discussion telling him to wake up, and stop putting himself in these situations.
