It is a gray area, and I've never agreed or like that a young man's life could be screwed because he smashed a 16 yr old. We're ok with prosecuting 16 yr olds as adults for heinous crimes and locking them up for life, especially if they're males. However a 16 yr old whore sleeps with a 21 year old and he gets the digital equivalent of a scarlet letter on his record for life is unfair. For the record, I don't agree with going after young bucks either, but c'mon, enough with the innocent purity nonsense.

It never ceases to amaze me how crazy this looks when viewing it unbiased. A handful of years ago I would have done this part as if it was nothing. After reading that though it really does make this organization come off as a cult. Its somewhat frightening. If any other religious organization were to print something like this and I came across it, I would say these people are nuts. But in this case, its my own people. Its crazy!!

You know something, you guys are right, I read the context of this completely wrong!!! I looked at the extreme as not to take shunning to the extreme, when its actually the opposite. So they're saying if its necessary to take care of family business, so be it. However, not to associate with DFd or DAd family more than absolutely necessary. They kill me with the "incentive" part. Its nothing short of emotional extortion, and the estrangement of what would be formerly close relatives. Its dispicable.

“Have you entered into God’s rest?” (Heb 4:10, 11) All were encouraged to cease ‘dead works’ (Heb 6:1)
Self-evaluation: …Ask yourself how you would react to counsel regarding personal lifestyle? What if the scriptural counsel differs from personal opinion? Will you be obedient in molding?
Example: An adult child who lives outside of the household is DFd? While the term ‘Necessary family business’ is a term familiar with those in this circumstance; the GB wants to stress there is no need to push this to the extreme! ….Basically to shorten the example and to get to the heart of the matter….. there must be incentive for the DFd person to want to return. Parents are encouraged to give a little but to leave the DFd child desiring for more while promoting their actions as motivate by their love for Jah. The end result is hope that the DFd child in wanting full access to the abundant love of his parents willl also begin to see his losses in not having a relationship with Jehovah and seek reinstatement.
Now this is interesting........
