Did God tell you to inform us of His name on this here message board? Or did he also tell you to spread His name to other people informally too? If so, how have the reacted to you informing them of His correct name? By the way, you're a supervisor if I recall right because you had to diplomatically tell one your underlings he has severe halitosis? Did you inform him or other employees of God's correct name? I find this to be interesting.

It Is Not the First Time
by AGuest into the household of god, israel, and those who go with, may you all have peace!.
i have not been posting "a lot" lately (not that i post a lot, considering the averages) and there is a reason: i have another bit to share and just wasn't up to the "fight" that usually comes when i do so.
so, i had to take a step back and let our lord refresh me a bit and give me the strength... and flint-y forehead... that i would need to follow through with this post.

What happened to her face in the first video? I liked her better with dark hair when she was a little chubbier.

KM Jan 2011 Family Worship
by dozy inthere is a big insert in the jan kingdom ministry about the family worship night (which has evolved new capital letters - like governing body.).
some helpful suggestions include the head of the household putting an agenda on the fridge door a few days ahead for the family to "build excitement and anticipation" (i kid you not.
) the provision is compared to the sabbath arrangement as a gift from god.

And if the WTBTS did receive a flash of new light concerning this new arrangement , it very quickly contradicted the wonderful blessing that the congregation book study was up to very recently.
I forget about this occasionally. It was only a year before they dropped the book study arrangement, that they promoted the book study as the most important meeting. Thats what made it so shocking when they dropped it all together. I've heard so many reasons given for why it was dropped, that its hard to tell whats legit and whats not.
I hope this stuff wakes people up!!!!! Wake up people!!!

Some helpful suggestions include the head of the household putting an agenda on the fridge door a few days ahead for the family to "build excitement and anticipation" (I kid you not.) The provision is compared to the Sabbath arrangement as a gift from God. And a young married pioneer couple say that they wake up in the morning & say with excitement "Today is our Family Worship Night."
I'll scan & post when I get a chance.
For such a supposedly informal arrangement there does seem an awful lot of instructions with numerous suggestions as to what could be done (dressing up in bible costumes , role playing to pre-empt issues at school etc)- one gets the impression that most JWs just haven't been bothering.
I know that when I was growing up the family study was very rarely conducted (although that didn't stop the family going on circuit assemblies & my father pretending that we had a regular study.)
They're preposterous. In a way, I'm glad they're "suggesting" this, because I think it may wake people up to how loony they've become. For one thing, how is it a gift from God? Did Jehovah speak directly to the GB, and instruct them to institute a Family Worship Night? Did God instruct the Writing Department to compare it to the Sabbath? Did all the GB members recieve instructions in a dream the night before their weekly meeting instructing them put in motion this wonderful arrangement? If the answer to those questions is no, then its not a gift from God. God had nothing to do with this "arrangement", or gift as they put it. Another thing, why do they still promote pioneers as if they're respected or something? I can't speak for all congregations, but I know enough that could care less about pioneering or pioneers. I could care less what some young pioneer couple thinks. It's tantamount to creature worship the way they try impressing upon you the status of pioneers.
Kids dressing up in bible costumes is ridiculous and borderline idolatrous too. The men and women in the bible were just that.......men and women. Fleshly people, sinful people. They left behind good and bad examples, and experiences that we can relate to today. We're not supposed to worship them. We're not supposed to instruct our kids to worship them by dressing up like them. It's similar to how the WT discourages youth from idolizing sports stars by having posters in their bedrooms, or tee shirts with their favorite athletes face on them.
I find it hilarious that they're suggesting the head of the household stick a post-it on the refrigerator door to build anticipation for this arrangement. As a kid, when dad said we're going to DisneyWorld, I got excited. When dad said lets go to Long John Silvers, I got excited. When dad said lets have the family study, I wanted to kill myself just like a bunch of other JW children. Considering how many articles they publish on family worship night, and the need for families to have the family study, apparently a bunch of adults feel the same way I felt as a kid.

Faith in the anointed organization
by Honesty inwho could argue with something as logical as this... .
faith in the anointed organization jehovah uses today is also important.
his anointed organization is shown in the scriptures to be the faithful and discreet slave that dispenses the meat in due season.

Its ridiculous right?!?!??! OMG, I can't tell you how much this makes my blood boil. Check out this paragraph from this week's bookstudy!!!
***
cfchap.13p.137par.19“ILovetheFather”We have a profound spiritual need to show such love. Jehovah has thus arranged for us to worship in a way that our love for our Father is nourished and strengthened. When you attend Christian meetings, try to remember that you are there to worship your God.Facets of that worship include joining in heartfelt prayer, singing songs of praise, listening attentively, and participating when possible. Such meetings also give you an opportunity to encourage fellow Christians. (Hebrews 10:24, 25) Worshipping Jehovah regularly at Christian meetings will help you to grow ever stronger in your love for God.
They substitute themselves as Jehovah, so the meetings aren't their brainchild, but rather Jah's. On top of that, considering what's actually reviewed at meetings, can it really be considering worship of God? I mean the main subjects considered are, the faithful and discreet slave, why we should go to meetings, why we should participate, why field service is so important, etc.. I don't feel as if I'm worshiping God when at meetings as much as I feel I'm being inculcated to worship all the things that make JWs peculiar. Both Jesus and Jehovah seem to have been replaced by emphasis of regimented duties and activities, if that makes sense?

"What will be examined in the following article?" How many of you adults shamelessly raised your hand for these questions?
by miseryloveselders inevery wt magazine has at least one article that asks this question at the end of one of the study articles.
sometimes these questions are in the books such as this week's book study.
they spiced it up a little bit for this book study though.

I'm being 100% honest. I can't remember the last time I had done that. At that point I was usually too busy closing my book or putting my watchtower away.
Good point!!! I forgot how many people do this too!!!! Some of the feistier old timers do this suprisingly. It's like they're tired of sitting there hearing that stuff.

C'mon Mr.Freeze, we're all undercover or out in the open apostates!! I'm not gonna judge you for being in your thirties raising your hand for these questions.
Let me ask you this though.........when one of those paragraphs came up with the question being something like, "What questions should we consider?", and it had like several different answers.........did you raise your hand and take one? We're you a ballhogger and commented on all the answers in the paragraph making it so that other potential commenters couldn't get a piece of the action?

Every WT magazine has at least one article that asks this question at the end of one of the study articles. Sometimes these questions are in the books such as this week's book study. They spiced it up a little bit for this book study though. They asked, "and what will be considered in the ensuing chapters?" Call me strange, but the word ensuing adds some excitement. Gets me all tingly inside, like bad girls from James Bond movies.
What always killed me with these questions, was the ones who raised their hands for these questions, were the ones who waited until the last minute to comment. To hell with the little kids having trouble with pronunciation and reading, and their parents waiting for something simple in the lesson so they could show off their children as being raised as little spiritual gifts from God. Nope, slacker JWs would raise their hands in a heartbeat to avoid the shame of someone approaching them after the meeting saying, "I missed your comment today!" I guess the shame of not commenting at the meetings far outweights letting cute little children express their love for Jehovah.
Any of you guilty for raising your hand for these sort of questions?
On the flipside, its funny how some parents who think too highly of their childs developement.........let their children read scriptures, or paragraphs beyond their child's capabilities. Sometimes you can see the irritation in the conductor's face when this happens, or some of the more zealous dubs. I find it funny personally, some little 5 year old reading John 17:3, "Dis mmmmm...eeans....eating life" (parent chimes in, and you hear it in the microphone) "everlasting!" Kid repeats parent, "everlasting life. Th, th, th, their ta, ta, ta, k, kk, taking in, know you." Then the parent grabs the microphone back and finishes the verse. Half the audience goes, "awwwwww!!!" The other half including the conductor(unless its his kid) roll their eyes. Gotta love that application of Hebrews 10:25, and Romans 1:11,12.

Just feeling a little down in the dumps tonight...
by garyneal in...though i guess the reasons why are silly.
in a sense, but it makes me wonder on what's to come in the future.. i hate it this time of the year with a wife in the cult who's been taught not to celebrate christmas.
my company is having a holiday party and she agreed to go to one but because we were also bought out and some of us are leaving and moving on, someone decided to have another one with just the employees of our company alone.. i wanted to go to that one too, but i did not want to go alone.

Hey Gary, I just wanted to say your reasons aren't silly, far from it. I can't tell you how many JW relationships with two believing mates struggle because of one being an elder, or one being a pioneer. Many a married brother or sister has had regretted marriage within Da Troof because when married to a die hard JW, they really don't have a companion. They don't have wives or husbands, instead they have elders and pioneers. Your situation is worse, because you're not a JW. They even have a label for guys like you. "Unbelieving Mates!" Give you a heads up too, this weeks last Service Meeting part is about "unbelieving mates." This Thursday while families across the USA will be eating turkey dinners with family, congregations of JWs will be discussing how to reach out to "unbelieving mates." You should check out that article, I'm sure its linked somewhere on this board. There's some real gems on there. You mentioned the future, after this article is discussed, depending on how lazy your wife's congregation is, you may or may not recieve some attempts by brothers and sisters showing you "personal interest."
By the way man, I hope you feel better. I hope the best for you and your wife, and your marriage. I envy you regarding the very fact you at least have a wife. Hang in the breh.
