One of these days when I find the time, I'm going to do a spreadsheet to see just how often they mention "the faithful and discreet slave." I swear its like every article anymore mentions the slave. I guess food at the proper time includes reminding us that they're the ones chosen to dispense the food.

Percentage of NFL players with goatees. Typical of the USA?
by ThomasCovenant inare goatees very, very popular at the moment in the usa?
because whenever i watch the nfl here in blighty i see that about 80% of the players have goatees and about 95% have either a goatee, a tash, or a full beard.. is it to make the helmet chin strap more comfortable?.
or are they at the cutting edge of today's male grooming fashion?.

Speaking as one of the scruffy class, goatee's are pretty popular as well as the 3 day beard look. Problem for some people is that the 3 day beard takes 7-10 days to grow, and then it's patchy/scruffy.
I've grown a beard off and on, though it's not as thick as I'd like. When it bugs me, I trim down to a goatee.
For me personally, I keep some kind of facial hair only because for years and years I wasn't allowed to. Now that no one can tell me I can't, I do it just because I can and want to. It's also a clear signal to JWs who see me. Nothing says "worldly" like facial hair.
Back to the NFL though... I've noticed another trend and not just the NFL but in the NBA and even the college ranks. Tattoos. It's like 60-70 percent of all players have tattoos. Not just a single one, but full sleevs and ornate designs. Maybe NHL players have them too, but with their full sweaters (jerseys) you can't see em.
Funny how something as natural as facial hair spells bad news to approaching JWs. Just shows how insane this religion is, buncha nuts. I grow a soul patch occasionally, and I remember when I was younger, older brothers would look at me and they'd motion their finger underneath their bottom lip. I guess it was sign language for, "we don't do facial hair, preMisery!" Now that I'm older, occasionally I grow it, and nobody really says anything. The last CO we had actually stated it was ok to grow one. What generated him stating that left me with questions because I wasn't aware that any of us we're making an issue out of it. I would like to grow a goatee....someday...in due time.
Tattoos are crazy right now, and I think it actually says something about society. Granted we're not under the Mosaic Law, and if a Christian chooses to get a tattoo, thats their choice. However in my opinion, it says something about people's self respect and also how feeble minded people are. 50Cent has tattoos, now everybody has to have tattoos. Male models with spider webs on their elbows, its ridiculous. Little white chicks with devil girls on their ankles or leg. The chinese symbols were the best to me. Nothing says stereotypical jackass to me like chinese symbols on a girl's arm that stand for strength or some other ridiculous personal self esteem reminder. I'm in no position to judge, but tools come in all shapes, sizes and colors I guess. For the record, I don't knock tattoos, or those that make a living doing them, or those obsessed with having them. I don't know exactly how to word this, but I just believe something is wrong with a society of trendhoppers.

Oh well, since you're in a sentimental mood, I might as well join you. I have nothing against anyone on this forum either. Anybody who's experienced the negative side of what this religion is capable of doing has my sympathies. Besides I'm kinda tired of having such a negative outlook towards everybody. It's time I try a new approach towards people. I'll continue to disagree or agree with various posters and people in life, but I respect all.

Big, blue-eyed Judge Joseph Frederick Rutherford, 60, lives in a ten-room Spanish mansion, No. 4440 Braeburn Road. San Diego, Calif. Last week he deeded No. 4440 Braeburn Road, an adjacent two-car garage and a pair of automobiles to King David, Gedeon, Barak, Samson. Jephthae, Samuel and sundry other mighties of ancient Palestine. Positive is he that they are shortly to reappear on earth. Said he: "I have purposely landscaped the place with palm and olive trees so these princes of the universe will feel at home when they come to offer man the chance to become perfect."
Newsmen last week asked Judge Rutherford whether he would not be troubled by bogus Davids applying for admission to consecrated No. 4440 Braeburn Road. Said he: "I realized the possibility of some old codger turning up bright and early some morning and declaring he was David. The men whom I have designated to test the identity of these men are officers of my societies. . . . They will be divinely authorized to know impostors from the real Princes."
Classic material.

similarly, today a limited number of anointed men have the responsibility of representing the slave class.

The problems start with the NT itself. Very few Denominations are willing to acknowledge the bi-polar nature of the two Christian Churches that are developing right before their eyes in the NT. If they can't or won't see that central problem don't expect anything other than hubris and excuses.
Sighhh, you're right, I just have a hard time accepting that its a lost cause. It drives me absolutely bonkers that a person can't see the F&DS was simply a parabel, and the Other Sheep were the Gentiles. For the life of me, I just cannot fathom why a major schizm hasn't developed over these two simple illustrations. Its so simple that there's nothing to discuss about it, nothing to debate, it is what it is!!! Argghgh!!! I think to myself at times that, had I been familiar with the NT as a mature adult, and a couple JWs showed up at my door, and let just assume hypothetically speaking that I bit. Just assume that I bit long enough to entertain a bible study, and even attend meetings regularly. Eventually I'd be exposed to the F&DS doctrine, and I have a hard time believing that nobody in their right mind wouldn't question the lunacy of this doctrine. As a born-in during my teenage years I couldn't wrap my brain around this teaching. As an adult, I cannot wrap my head around it. The only difference now as an adult is when I try to accept this doctrine, my head starts to hurt. I know I'm not crazy, and I know there has to be other mature thinking Christians amongst the higher ups in this organization who have entertained themselves with the very question we're discussing.

There's days I ponder what it would take for the average JW to see that the F&DS was simply a parabel and nothing more. There's times I get a headache trying to force myself to comform and simply accept this doctrine, but its impossible to accept. There's no concrete evidence to support the F&DS as being anything more than an illustration.

by Gerard infuneral pickets to be met by 'angels'startclickprintexcludeendclickprintexcludehttp://www.cnn.com/2011/us/01/11/arizona.funeral.westboro/index.html by the cnn wire staff
january 11, 2011 9:04 a.m. esttucson, arizona (cnn) -- tucson just isn't that kind of town, says christin gilmer.. gilmer is referring to the actions of westboro baptist church of topeka, kansas, which has made its name protesting the funerals of people who died of aids, gay people, soldiers and even coretta scott king.. but when the church announced its intention to picket the funeral of a 9-year-old girl -- one of six people who died saturday during the attempted assassination of u.s. rep. gabrielle giffords -- gilmer and others put their feet down.. tucson is a "caring, loving, peaceful community," according to gilmer, who said two of the six people killed were friends.. "for something like this to happen in tucson was a really big shock to us all," she said.
"our nightmare happened when we saw westboro baptist church was going to picket the funerals.

They are an interesting group to say the least. One of these days they're going to protest the wrong funeral though. I was hoping after Tookie Williams was executed, and his funeral was held, Westboro would have protested that. It would have been hilarious to see a bunch of Crips chasing and shooting at Phelps and his family.
