Somebody needs to demand something out of BP LOL. WTF?!?!? So if Obama stays in DC and says, "we're monitoring the situation", he's not doing enough? And he looks weak. But if he gets too aggressive and says, "BP needs to do more!", now he's starting to look like a Russian from the 70s. I swear the man is damned in people's eye's regardless of what decision he makes. Something I got a kick out of, my father said. The conservatives in that area show how simple minded they are when situations like these arise. They hate big goverment and want big goverment out of their lives, yet when something like this happens, they start begging for the goverment to do more for them. My pop being an ol' school militant minded African American put it, "they're begging for assistance from a Nigga representing Big Goverment. Ya gotta love it!"

This thread would make an excellant documentary. It's so bizarre the experiences one has from being born-in. Good post Wanderlustguy, and everybody elses too.
St.Ann, I know that feeling all too well. I've often told people I'm close to that I don't fear death. I fear how I might die, because I don't want to get eaten by some animal, or drown, or what's been embedded into my head since my birth........... death at Armageddon, being tossed into the Lake of Fire. At the same time however, I loathe my upbringing in this religion so much anymore that I welcome to some degree the day I stop breathing. Death is almost like a release from this spiritual paradise prison. Granted I've got plenty of good memories too. And to be fair, life could have been worse. I could have been born in Somalia, or a Palastenian. I could have been paralyzed or have Sickle Cell Anemia. There's a ton of messed up things that could have happened to me. That's not to downplay the damage this org has had on people either, don't get me wrong. I'm just trying to look at the glass being half full the best I can. Some days are better than others. Wow this thread is depressing. It's raining where I'm at too. Ughgh......

Library Visit # 2: 607 BCE vs. 587 BCE - With Pictures!

the results were conclusive: all secular sources agree that jerusalem was destroyed in 587/586 bce.

Judging by the new Jeremiah book, they don't have any intention of dropping 607 either. Page 28 of the new "God's Word For Us Through Jeremiah" book on page 28, has the question, "Describe the events of 607 B.C.E.." Doing a search through the PDF copy, there are 9 mentions of "607 BCE". The black helicoptor/men in white coats conspiracy side of me wants to believe there's an apostate on the Writing Department who purposely did this to subtlely encourage people to research and ask questions. The cynical born in JW side of me believes this book is just more regurgitation of previous articles with a shiny new cover, and that the 607 vs 586 was never even given a thought when preparing this publication.

I've never listened to Ride before. I'm at work, so I'll have to check it out at lunchtime or later tonight. I like some stuff that can be considered Shoegazer I guess. Like Echo & the Bunnymen, Interpol, early Black Rebel Motorcycle Club albums, The Cure, etc.. A band I really liked was The Sound. They had potential. Lead singer committed suicide via train. Tragic because he was just as talented if not more than U2. Just rambling, but it seems like the really talented ones die too soon. Ian Curtis from Joy Division was another one who died way too soon.

I put my mp3 player on shuffle, and got a half glass of Vodka. I feel pretty good tonight despite feeling a tad bit empty tonight. It shuffled from Journey, to The Who, and it sounded so good. Question for ex-elders

if a person had one, faded and does not live near nor had any contact with the congregation who holds it, nor any other congregation for 30 years, would you say they are off the radar?.

Prior to last year's memorial, we had an elder's meeting and the secretary brought out a list of names who were still in our records as belonging to our congregation. We were going to go over this list, to see about reaching out to these ones and inviting them to the memorial. 80% of them we haven't seen in 30 years. Some of them, I've never even heard of as I would have been a child when they stopped attending. Another older elder got cantankerous and belligerent stating in more words or less, "why are going to waste another 1/2 hour going over names of people who haven't set foot in this hall in decades?!?!?!" He was angry, and in rare form. He's been going to elder meetings for far too long. Like other posters said, if you're that far off the radar, don't put yourself back on. I know of one case someone who is disfellowshipped, but been gone so long that many dubs don't know his standing and they speak briefly to him when they see him.
