It's a big deal for those of us not in your shoes too Simon. Not to sound like Celine Dion or anything, but you give us inspiration. I hope to be inactive some day too. Good for your dude.

Keyser, you brought up something I've been wondering but never researched. What is the point of a prenup if it doesnt do squat come divorce time?

If a person is single, worth millions, and doesn't have any moral hangups, they'd be a fool to get married.

Did the new Tom Cruise "Day & Night" movie flop?
by JWoods ina lot of comments that it basically flopped.
it came in only 3rd box office over the release weekend, grossed about 50 million.. it cost 45 million to make, (besides the big promo advertising campaign iirc).. film company execs are covering up by saying "we don't blame tom cruise" --- but ---.
i wonder if the couch-jumping scientology crazie-ness incidents (and some past bad flicks) have finally come home to roost?.

I'm hearing a ton of good word on True Blood, they look like the have a hit on their hands. I might have to give that a watch. I didn't know the Tom Cruise movie came out already, not that I was planning on seeing it. I'm sure they'll recoup considering worldwide sales, and DVD sales. It's probably tame enough where TNT or AMC will show it in the future right after showing The Fugitive for the billionth time. I''m wondering if The Last Airbender is going to flop. The reviews are scathing, and the Asian population is in a tizzy over the lack of Asian actors. If this movie bombs, M.Knight Shamalongadingdong career might be a wrap.

Did you really pay attention at conventions or assemblies?
by donny ina co-worker of mine whose family (2 daughters, wife) are jw's related a funny story yesterday.
his wife and daughters missed the friday portion of the convention last week in order to attend a wedding of a worldly relative.
at dinner she mentioned to him that she would go to the convention this friday to make up for the one she missed.. he then asked why and she said so she could get the information she missed.

A few years ago at a Convention, I was nodding off. I swear there is nothing more difficult than trying to stay awake once you start dozing off. My head kept rocking back and forth, eventually it hit the kneecap of somebody sitting behind me. I was so embarrased, I never turned around and apologized or anything. I usually try to keep occupied at conventions, and assemblies. Whether that be attendant work, or money boxes, stage work, anything to avoid sitting in those hard seats. My butt feels like post-op after sitting there cramped up between people. Then trying to listen to either monotone speakers or overamplified speakers rehash the same material I heard last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, and the year before that, a nd the ..................

Congregation Elders got a letter from headquarters on "Sexting". I guess this is the latest trend causing problems.
by miseryloveselders inlast week, my coboe, formerly known as the po, read a letter from ny giving directions on how to handle cases of "sexting" in the congregation.
i've vaguely heard of sexting in news articles.
i'm thinking though, the branch isn't going to send out a letter unless there's a trend.

I'm thinking though, the Branch isn't going to send out a letter unless there's a trend. This is similar to the letter that was sent on pornography indicating that it is a major problem. I'm hearing more and more cases of brothers getting removed due to pornography. So now, here's the latest trend, "sexting." If I remember what I heard correctly, when a situation involving minors occurs with "sexting", the Elder body is to contact the Legal Department. This is the case, even when the people involved are both minors. For adults doing such, its up to the Elders discretion on whether or not it warrents a Judicial Committee.
I have to admit, I'm somewhat intrigued by this. People are getting DF'd and privileges removed for sending each other explicit pictures or nasty talk via text messages on a phone.

but, it just so happens that my some members of my family including and mostly my parents have actually given me a good enough of an excuse to get out.. they have broken to many rules.

Darth Bane, tell me, why are you here? You acknowledge this is a board filled with apostates. Then why are you here? Do you have a beef with Jehovah's Witnesses? Do the Elders in your congregation know that you frequent this board? The thing is, no Jehovah's Witness, who really believes would engage with apostates. Read this.................

So Bane, if you love the organization so much, why do you disregard their counsel? I can only think of two reasons. One, you're having some reservations about this organization. Two, your trolling? So Bane, what is it? And don't hand me that, "this board is for Jehovah's Witnesses." That much is true. Whether your a believer or unbeliever, you're welcome here, but be respectful of other views and circumstances.
Some apostates are increasingly using various forms of mass communication, including the Internet, to spread false information about Jehovah’s Witnesses. As a result, when sincere individuals do research on our beliefs, they may stumble across apostate propaganda. Even some Witnesses have unwittingly exposed themselves to this harmful material. In addition, apostates occasionally take part in television or radio programs. What is the wise course to follow in view of this? The apostle John directed Christians not to accept apostates into their homes. He wrote: “If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, never receive him into your homes or say a greeting to him. For he that says a greeting to him is a sharer in his wicked works.” (2 John 10, 11) Avoiding all contact with these opponents will protect us from their corrupt thinking. Exposing ourselves to apostate teachings through the various means of modern communication is just as harmful as receiving the apostate himself into our homes. Never should we allow curiosity to lure us into such a calamitous course!—Proverbs2:3. -
