No I been sitting here inhaling the sweat aroma of workplace boredom and office politic THC. I'm stuck in here for another hour or so. I intend to hit the Svedka later today. Svedka is surprisingly smooth for as inexpensive as it is. Not quite Grey Goose, but it will do for those of us on a budget.

Language usage gripes : I'm a geek, but I hate it when geeks who pride themselves on their proper use of technical terms, abuse the terms used by all other educated people.
by gubberningbody ini hate the use of the word "simplistic" when the word used should be "simple".
"simple" is good, "simplistic" is bad.
we want things to be presented in a clear, concise and "simple" manner.

All I ever wanted was a double ended light saber and an oversized monk's robe.

An inmate on one of the prison documentaries, I can't recall if it was Lockup, Lockdown, one of those shows. He had been hoarding either Apricot or Pear seeds for months in his cell with the purpose of killing himself. He started passing out in his cell, and the CO's assumed it was a drug overdose like Heroin or Oxycontin. He had to be taken to the hospital where he admitted what he actually did so he could be treated properly.

Where did 607 come from?
by MrFreeze inokay so we've obviously established on this board that 607 is not the correct date that babylon destroyed jerusalem.
even before 1914 came around, the bible students still thought 1914 would be a pivital date.
the only way they can gain that info is from the 7 times or w/e.

Wanted to mention, I bought Carl Jonnson's book last fall. I read it, but didnt really "read" it. The past month or so, I've taken the time to get the notepad out, and start really examining his arguments. His arguments make sense to me. I really don't think there's any real contradiction between the Bible and Historians. I've been doing the same with the WT's Revelation Book, and Historians interpretation of Revelation. PBS Online has a really good website focusing on apocalyptic views. It kills me how the WTS is willing to do almost anything to hide the truth about The Troof.

Isaac, I'm at work right now, and I'm actually shocked by that. I'm shocked at the lengths they'll go to misrepresent real scholars to support their own mistaken date!! I'm kinda at a loss for words right now. I really don't know what to say right now. It's just mind boggling how dishonest the WT is. I mean, wow. That's all I can say, is wow. Thanks for linking that thread. Wow. Average people today don't bother to do proper research, and something like that 9 out of 10 people would never catch because they would never think to question the WT. Its sickening. Talk about reading the fine print LOL

Not to change the direction of this thread or anything, but once you come to the conclusion that "Servitude" to Babylon for 70 years by all the neighboring nations is what the prophecy meant, the weight that the JW side of yourself wants to give in support of 607 becomes worthless. 587 makes more sense at that point. Especially considering the battle of Carchemish. That, and umm reading the entire prophecy in context as opposed to the copy and pasting from old publications the Writing Department does nowadays.

Congregation Elders got a letter from headquarters on "Sexting". I guess this is the latest trend causing problems.
by miseryloveselders inlast week, my coboe, formerly known as the po, read a letter from ny giving directions on how to handle cases of "sexting" in the congregation.
i've vaguely heard of sexting in news articles.
i'm thinking though, the branch isn't going to send out a letter unless there's a trend.

Was this letter read to the congregation, or was it a confidential Body of Elders letter?
Read to the Body of Elders only.
