Very well put Essan.
I second that. Talk about getting owned. I have a strange feeling Debator(Reniaia) won't be popping back into this thread.

in 1991, one of the watch tower societys senior writers, colin quackenbush, told me in the privacy of his office about letters which the society had received from prominent and credible elders, not apostates (thats exactly what he said), who were concerned about the increase in accusations saying that jehovahs witnesses were false prophets.

may you all have peace... and, again, you really should find out before you declare... and tell others... that such things do not occur in our great country:.

happens all the time to less... shall we say, "economically desirable" persons.
The neighborhood my folks live in, where I grew up is a mix of people, working class. My dad told me prior to my parents moving there, a couple across the street told all the white neighbors not to sell to niggers. Fast forward to 2010, and both my folks and those neighbors still live there. The best part though, those neighbor's grandkids grew up, and both married black dudes. I came home to help my dad with some things, and looked across the street, and my mouth dropped. The black son-in-law was walking into the house like he owned the place. White kids and tan kids playing in the front yard, and the grandmother looked perplexed.
right now, i am hearing foals' "total life forever".
also been playing these albums a lot lately:.
groove armada's "black light".
then wtf are they?.
why don't they like that term?.
I haven't read the new brochures in depth yet, but the talk given during the Convention when these were released touched on Creationists. The WTS has always taken swipes at Christendom as they call it. They lump Creationists in with False Religion a la Christendom, so they have differentiate themselves from other factions of Christianity.
when it comes to weather, would you rather have a wind chill below zero, or a heat index over 100?
it's the hottest week of the summer here.
i have to confess, i handle the cold much better than the heat.
With cold you can always put more clothing on. With heat, you can only strip off so much before it gets offensive.

I see you still try and say they are false prophets when they simply do not qualify Biblically to be so. I think threads like this are good for readers to see because they highlight the prejudice on here.
It also draws out posters such as yourself who aren't being completely honest with themselves.
i don't want biblical answer, but from any watchtower publication.
has that question ever been answered in any watchtower publications?.
please, give me some references.. i expect answer from debator, alice, bane, scholar or any other active jehovah's witness.
I'm not planning on hanging around too late tonight as I've gotta get up early in the morning. But just wanted to say one quick thing..................
djeggnogg, just answer the question!!!!
You did exactly what the WT does when pressed to defend their interpretation of the Faithful and Discreet Slave and the meaning of Other Sheep. Excuse my language, but you typed a whole lotta shit, and didn't say anything. Absolutely nothing. Just answer the question. From one doubting Jehovah's Witness to another I'm assuming Jehovah's Witness, answer the question. This is a subject that's been on my mind for quite a long time even before I started lurking here. The WT CD Rom doesn't satisfy me. The Insight Books completely gloss over the question as well, the same way they do the Faithful and Discreet Slave teaching. If you can't answer the question, then don't post a bunch of convoluted bull shit.
G'night everybody .
first of all, is there a way to keep this topic available?.
some would like to see authoritarian repressive watchtower gone, others want reform among jws now!
... "don't curse the darkness light a candle" - a chinese proverb?.
I'd like to see reform personally. I came home earlier this evening from the Convention. There was much that I appreciated. I really enjoyed the symposium from Saturday. Being honest with myself, there were a few things upon reflection, that I need to work on. I knew these things before the Convention, but the symposium put these things in better perspective. I enjoyed being amongst "the friends", despite my past experiences with several of them. I enjoyed the mood and atmosphere of the convention, and usually I hate the conventions and assemblies.
At the same time however, during the convention, I protested several times by not clapping when expected. I also refused to contribute any money to the World Wide Work. I didn't say Amen for the opening prayer this morning because I didn't agree with the way the brother was worshiping the faithful and discreet slave. If he wants to brown-nose, he needs to do that on his own time, not representing all of us in prayer. There's other peculararities found amongst JWs that I disagree with that I won't go into at this time. The two main things that bother me is, the interpretation of The Faithful & Discreet Slave, and Babylon the Great. I just don't find the evidence sufficient enough to agree with anything being particulary exclusive about this organization. Unfortunately, the men in charge of things as it is now, aren't humble enough to reevaluate several core doctrines. They're not humble enough to understand and acknowledge genuinely how other can read scripture and prophecy, and come to a different conclusion than themselves. I just don't understand how they can be so haughty and stubborn to have to be right on everything no matter how ridiculous they make themselves appear. I truly wish they would either humble themselves or Jesus or Jehovah would humble them.
was there an official or unofficial reason that anyone knows of?.
it seems to me that pretty much every publication was studied at the book study, but we never did that one..
Naw, we've nevered studied that book. I was fresh out of high school when that book came out. It's not a bad book by the way if your looking for a quick primer on different religions. If you can get past the anti-every-religion-not-JW than it comes off kind of like a Complete Idiot's Guide to Religion.
... what joseph's brothers have to do with generations overlapping?
in the final dc talk they use joseph's brothers to indicate overlapping generations.
does anybody have any clue what that has to do with the generations in matthew?
I get that, but how exactly do Joseph and his brothers being called a "generation" even relate to generations overlapping? I'm just trying to see where their reasoning comes from.
In the sense that they were all from a specific time frame. Joseph was what the 10th, or 11th of them I believe? He wasn't the youngest, nor the eldest. They used Exodus 1:6, "eventually Joseph died, and also all his brothers and all that generation." What the GB is attempting to get across is that "this generation" isn't indefinate. It has an ending. In the text from Exodus, it mentions Joseph and his brothers and those from their time, I'm guessing within the same age demographic as the 12 of them. The setting for the next generation of Israelites was after those from the era of Joseph and his brothers had passed the scene. But there were 12 brothers, all of different ages. The same as the annointed who were on hand to recognize the significance of the events in 1914 onward. Also, those who may have been too young to recognize 1914's importance, or not even born, but nonetheless who had the heavenly calling while those who originally recognized the events of 1914 were still alive.
They specifically used Fred Franz as one of the original annointed who recoginized the importance of 1914. Those with the heavenly calling after him, who although younger than Franz, and weren't around nor recognized 1914 as being important, where still contemporaries of Fred Franz being alive with him in the same era.
