Just had a thought after reading Pirata's post. One of the public talk outlines I have touches on Jehovah giving power to the those needing it. One of the verses recomended to use is Isaiah 40:28-31 where it talks about Jehovah giving power to the weak, and renewing the strength of those hoping in the Lord.

How to deal with "Whoe other than JW are preching today?"
by Simon Morley inmy bil (active dub) has begun to ask me why we are not "active" anymore.
after a few careful (non-dfing) comments and observations he asks "well who other than jw's are preaching the good news in fullfillment of matt 24:14?
i responded with the comment that billions of christ's followers worldwide, down through history for over 19 centuries have been selfless in preaching globally.

Personally speaking, the only thing unique I see about JWs preaching, is that JWs are pretty much the only group patting themselves on the back for preaching. I swear this is the only religion with weird self esteem issues.

I tell you what, there is nothing more grand than coming home from work on a meeting night and not going. Or sleeping in on a Saturday morning. Saturday mornings it takes every bit of emotion I can muster to meet at the group. But the mornings when I sleep in, especially in the Fall and Winter........my my my.

My Story - Abbreviated but still way too long
by jamesmahon inas i have enjoyed reading everyone elses biogs here i thought it was about time that i put my own down.
i have thought about why i want to do this and whilst i can pretend it is for the better good and it will act as a warning for others thinking of joining the witnesses, actually i think it is because i think it is just because it makes an interesting story and as will become apparent a good part of my life i had to live a lie and i now find it really liberating just to be really open with everyone.. i also thought about how to write it.
was tempted to write it to the tune of the fresh prince but thought that might get a bit tough after about verse 38. then wondered whether i should do it in the style of one of those biography pieces in the awake but that would involve reading an awake to mimic the style and just couldnt be bothered.

in 1991, one of the watch tower societys senior writers, colin quackenbush, told me in the privacy of his office about letters which the society had received from prominent and credible elders, not apostates (thats exactly what he said), who were concerned about the increase in accusations saying that jehovahs witnesses were false prophets.

The neighborhood my folks live in, where I grew up is a mix of people, working class. My dad told me prior to my parents moving there, a couple across the street told all the white neighbors not to sell to niggers. Fast forward to 2010, and both my folks and those neighbors still live there. The best part though, those neighbor's grandkids grew up, and both married black dudes. I came home to help my dad with some things, and looked across the street, and my mouth dropped. The black son-in-law was walking into the house like he owned the place. White kids and tan kids playing in the front yard, and the grandmother looked perplexed.

I haven't read the new brochures in depth yet, but the talk given during the Convention when these were released touched on Creationists. The WTS has always taken swipes at Christendom as they call it. They lump Creationists in with False Religion a la Christendom, so they have differentiate themselves from other factions of Christianity.

Which do you prefer?
by keyser soze inwhen it comes to weather, would you rather have a wind chill below zero, or a heat index over 100?
it's the hottest week of the summer here.
i have to confess, i handle the cold much better than the heat.

With cold you can always put more clothing on. With heat, you can only strip off so much before it gets offensive.
