Yet another post-JW epiphany: The Absurdity of "SERIOUS SIN".

she still likes to read the daily text, just for different reasons now.

today's text mentioned "serious sins" and it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Urghhh, I hate the mofo. I really do hate Beck. Its one thing to disagree with a guy on his views, his politics, or even on this forum the various things we all discuss with one another. But I hate Beck the same reason I hate Alice In Wonderland and DJEggnogg and the other phony troll JWs on here. They're not who they say they are. Beck is playing a character. Not only is he playing a character but he's playing with fire. This country is headed toward something that quite frankly, I'm a tad bit nervous about. I don't know if we're headed for a race war, or some type of civil war, maybe a class war, but if it gets to that point, certain individuals in media need to take a fair measure of blame. People like Palin and Beck, don't actually believe all the bull that comes out of their foul mouths. They're entertainers tickling the ears of the uninformed on the far right. Notice I didn't say, conservative, but the far right. The far right has taken over the role of potential violent, disturbers of the peace, that the far left had back in the 60s and 70s. Palin and Beck just keep poking and pushing, and there's going to be consequences for their words and actions someday. There is a tremendous lack of civil discussion anymore. Again I blame that on ones like Beck. I personally see myself as a conservative. I'm not a big fan of the far left. They're just not realistic people. They deal with emotion more so than reality. But again, I see the same thing with the far right. Ones like Beck keep prodding that emotion. One day its gonna hit a boiling point. Its coming.

Boxing or MMA...

if you have more than a passing interest in either of these two sports, you might be interested in ufc 118 tomorrow night.

mma legend randy couture fights heavyweight boxing champion james toney in the co-main event.. my money is on couture.

personally i think james toney is delusional for stepping into the octagon as a boxer, particularly against a guy with a strong wrestling background like couture.

I feel bad for the dudes that actually paid for this on PPV LOL. How much was it? SportsCenter showed the entire fight in less time than their commercial breaks LOL. Showtime showed the last Marquez vs Vasquez fight last night too, which was a replay. It was only about 10 minutes long. I got more bang for my buck on those than PPV. What is wrong with MMA lately? Their main events as of late have for lack of a better word.....sucked.

I'd become a regular pioneer, if God will allow me 10 minutes with Glen Beck in a room, and no consequences for my actions. I'd love to leave him hanging by his shoe strings off a ceiling fan. I'm already past the moral hangup with Beck, I'd have no problem strangling that dude. Just a phony, rotton, hypocrtical, pussy made coward. God, I hate that dude. Hate his mother for not having an abortion.

No, not in it's current form. I feel like you, its a collection of old history books related to semetic history, a collection of letters to various congregations from the apostles, and one apocalyptic letter. I believe within all of those writings, one can get a grasp, although not perfect, but still some grasp on what God expects of people.

The whole "Word of God", or "God's Word" is backwards to me. It's the reason to me why organized religion is so backwards. One example is the recent thread on "Not forsaking the gathering of yourselves." That line was just one part of Paul's letter to the Hebrews. Let the WTS tell it, it was a command from God, which is nonsense. Another example I think of is 1 Cor 7:12, where Paul says, "but to the rest, I, not the lord, say." Paul said quite clearly, it was him doing the talking and the directing. It was his view, not Christs, or God's, but rather again, Paul's. Let the WTS tell it, it was a command from God again. Again, I think one can grasp a lot about God through those ancient writings. However to attribute all of those writings as God's word is insulting to God I believe.

I don't see Toney winning this fight, or even lasting three rounds. I'm thinkin submission by the second round. At the same time though, don't count Toney out. He's been a heluva fighter for a long time. He's experienced and hard headed, with a tough chin. If Couture goes head up with him, he'll get knocked out.

Personally I think this fight is fraudulent. It's a hustle to get people excited about boxing which isn't as hot as it used to be. Also a fair tradeoff with MMA which is popular but still not as popular as boxing was in its prime. Publicity stunt written all over it.

Wow darth frosty, that brought back memories. Remember having to read all the life stories of each of the GB members? And I couldn't hang a sports star poster on my wall growing up because it was "idolatry".Reading through the outline really shows the control that they establish over you from day 1!

its one that has been thrown at me time and time again when i talk of my decision to leave the 'organization of god'.

as i would not be gathering together with his people and therefore forsaking the gathering of myself together..... (if ya get me!)..

I always hated how they take Paul's letters, and then claim that his words are commands from God. It's one of the reasons I don't believe that the Bible is the complete word of God. It contains some history on the Israelites, some history on Jesus, and several letters by the apostles to various people and congregations. I've heard ones from the platform say that, "not forsaking the gathering of yourselves", was a direct command from God, which is proposterous. Paul told the Hebrews to continue encouraging one nother, and communicate with one another, organize things with one another. I'm certain he didn't mean attending the Congregation Book Study, the public talk, the WT study, the Service Meeting, the Theocratic Ministry School, 2-3 Circuit Assemblies, and a 3 day district convention 3-4 hours from you home. Not to forget, special talks given when Bethel heavies visit, or when the CO/DO visit. If Paul were around today, the Congregation Picnic would be the only thing he would agree is in harmony with what he wrote to the Hebrews regarding gathering together.

Those old men in NY take the simplest scriptures and turn them into direct commands from God.
