When your whole outlook on the WTS has been based off their own personal glamour shots that you found defective, what'd they expect? To be fair I'm going through a new period of reflection. I was on a critical high regarding all things WT. Then I found some positive things I can agree with, but not much. I think I'm finally landing upon that rational yet not delusional critical opinion I've been seeking.

"You are only looking at things 'critical' of the Watchtower"
by sabastious insomething jws say that to a lot to people who have left or are leaving the org.. i find it very a very ironic statement since the wt and awake, or any wt literature for that matter, is never critical of itself and never directly addresses refutation of their doctrine and predictions.... i was raised a witness, as many of you were.
i have been subjected to "one-side-of-the-coin" for almost 2 decades!
the only true way to bring balance to my information is to look at the other side of the coin and give it great consideration.... -sab.

I'm curious, where's the father during all of this? Not that I'm judging her, but are those kids out of wedlock? The only reason I ask that is because I've always found it interesting when your weaker JWs hold to their priciniples on something like a not permitting a blood transfusion. Then several months later they're getting DFd or Reproved for some other infraction down the road. I'm curious as to whether this is a similar case.

Great news - Bethel in my country is closing down...
by Albert Einstein inhere in czech republic wtbs opened new bethel home for some 60 workers about 18 years ago.
it was presented as a proof jhvh is blessing and aproving wtbs and of course as a sign that the end is so close.... recently i had with my mil discusions about wtbs selling their property in many countries and cuting costs... she did not believe me..... last week we went to visit her and she told me there was an anouncment at her meeting, that bethel is closing down and the building will be sold.
only translating department will remain in the country in other premises and everything else will be moved to slovakia.. recently there is bethel closing down in spain and italy and several assembly halls being sold here in europe.. i hope this will open eyes to many jw to see the gb in fact does not believe in end being so close .... albert.

by booby in***w071/1p.30par.18"thefirstresurrection"-nowunderway***.
will all the anointed receive their heavenly reward before the war of armageddon?
he evidently meant that the lives of the anointed who were on hand when the sign began to become evident in 1914 would overlap with the lives of other anointed ones who would see the start of the great tribulation.. .

The 2007 quote is saying that we do not know if all the annointed will die before the start of Armageddon, or if some would see the start of armageddon.
The second quote is concerning the start of The Great Tribulation.
The "Faithful Slave" teaches that Armageddon is the Climax of the Great Tribulation. The great tribulation starts, continues for a while, and then the War of Armageddon climaxes and ends the Great Tribulation.
As you mentioned, the two quotes above do not really conflict, but lead one to the conclusion that some annointed would be around to see the start of the Great Tribulation, but it is not known if they will receive their "heavenly reward" before the climax of the Great Tribulation (Armageddon).
This is a major reason why JWs can hardly ever explain this stuff when pressed.

Some Elders might do the silent treatment because they get fed up with it all. Between the parts, field service, endless meetings, personal family life, the brother and sisters with the endless cloud over their heads, etc., sometimes you gotta find a way to drown it out. Otherwise you might just snap. I don't know how it is in other churches dealing with everybodys peculiarities, but as a born in JW, The Friends can drive you nuts. Make you want to kill somebody. There was a pioneer in our hall that I personally didnt speak to for a good six months or so. Truth be told, I hated her. Couldn't stand her. This was before I got appointed. I haven't seen her since as she moved away. At the time though if she got hit by a train, I wouldn't have lost sleep over her. A couple friends joked thats because we had secretly liked each other. I don't know. But seriously, there are people in the hall that you truly have to avoid or otherwise you might kill them.

Can't believe they said sports are controlled by demons.
After watching Vince Young get DDTd yesterday by three linebackers it does sorta make you wonder.

I've been waiting for post 2 day Assembly verdicts. And it begins. So JWs are a little too much into those EMO Vampire flicks and their hometown sport teams. I'm looking forward to the Assembly now.

I really hate the way they describe everyone's emotions. There are days I cringe at going to meetings because some days I just don't have the patience to hear people's sobb stories. The same with my phone ringing and I can see who it is on the caller id. There's people I avoid working with in field service because they mentally and emotionally exhaust me by the time I'm done hearing them whine and complain for an hour or two. I'd venture to say there's plenty of JWs who are very unhappy. Myself being one of them. So to see a WT article telling me otherwise really irritates me. These articles with ficticious examples of happy people really adds insult to injury to a huge percentage of JWs who are miserable. There'
Another aspect that irritates me is the pressure these articles apply in an attempt to get people to pioneer. I don't know what's happening in other countries but here in the States, its rare to see anybody convert. Its the biggest waste of time being in field service. The apathy is extremely discouraging. When I'm out in field service and run into "conversation stoppers", I don't even try any more. Why bother. At the same time when I view publisher record cards, the one thing I find ironic is that the publisher averaging 9 hours a month is having the same rate of success as the pioneers. At that point I have to ask what purpose does spending 70 hours a month in the field accomplish if your results equal that of someone putting in 9 hours a month?

"weak" witnesses
by bigmac inwhen i was an active jw, 40 -odd years ago in the uk, in the 2 congs i went to, we had a fair number of brothers privately called "weak".
this was implied if a bro ( or sis )didn't attend most meetings, answer up, do field service, talks etc.. they weren't reprooved for this ( as far as i know ) but "marked" so to speak'.
is this still the case?

Weak is synonymous with inactive. There are many who are irregular, (missed reporting a month of field service every so often) who are just as "weak" as those who are inactive (no field service reported for 6 months straight) and are thus just as undesireable to the hardcore jws. These irregular witness are the majority and are the most fun among those still trapped. The inactive are often free and on their way to a successful fade.
I never really thought about how sad it is that ones are viewed in this fashion until reading this. They really are viewed as undesireable. They really are. Its as if they have a disease and are somewhat untouchable. All because they're not the most outgoing. Its really sad.

I'm being cyberstalked
by gubberningbody insince about valentines day ive been visiting a particular message forum thats much like any other internet babble-board except that the women are a little creepier.
theres this one chick who, i noticed right away, is kind of clever with the one-liners and such, and when i first noticed how many of her posts were replies to my own, i chalked this up to her being just one of those innocently gregarious types who responds to pretty much everyone in topic.. .
in the six or seven months since, however, ive noticed that this isnt really true.
