My father who is entrenched within this religion always told me as I was growing up that some of the worst marriages are amongst JWs. Now that I'm a man, and am privy to the going ons within the congregation, what he told me all those years I've found to be true. Some of most contentious relationships are in this religion. I've been in situations in field service where couples have gotten into it. You talk about awkward too when it gets to that point where a couple doesn't even attempt hide their troubles. As a kid I recall sitting in the auditorium during the lunch break of a circuit assembly, and a couple in their thirties were sitting down several rows ahead of me. They got into it, and as a child it was shocking to me. I could tell they were trying to keep their voices and demeanor incognito. She was ripping him apart in a discreet way. Nowadays stuff like that is nothing to me. I expect marriages in this religion to be troublesome. Few years back a brother's wife was paralel parking the car, and he was standing outside with me. He started yelling at her to cut the wheel harder, and she went ballistic in the car. It was like she was having a seizure. I was dang near paralyzed looking at it because it was so awkward. This religion can be rough on marriages I think. Its difficult enough to maintain a relationship. Then to try and do such all the while doing the WT enforced hamster wheel just adds to the stress.

Sticky Situation - What to do?
by I<3MYGod ini have posted about my experience with the cult....so now i find myself in a difficult position.
i have left it alone for many years but i wonder what you guys think.. i faded away from the cult and stopped going for quite a while.
my older sister took it upon herself to meet with my family and discuss all my sins and actions (they were active).

LOL Mad, I see where you guys are coming from and part of me agrees with you. I guess where I'm coming from is where's her motivation? Is it simply revenge? If it is, I say no, don't give in to that. Be the bigger person. If its a way to get her family out of this acursed religion, well if you think it will work, I guess the ends justify the means.

This thread reminds me of those Bad William Shatner vs. Good William Shatner commercials.

CO admits from platform that "we were embarassed by 1975."
by watson insaid with a smirk/smile/grin.
this one is the most glib i've seen.. actually, several times "75" came up.
maybe they feel the more they bring it up and make light of it, the more of a non-issue it will become..

Sometimes I read these 1975 threads, and it makes me feel as if I missed something really critical. I was born a few years after 75", but I can't help but feel that had I been around back then and had a good memory of what took place, then maybe I could have avoided a whole lot of heartache and stress. My generation hasn't had a 1975 moment, and we sure could use one right about now.

Do You Tend To Believe New Posters When They Tell Us What Bethel's Up To?
by minimus incircuit overseers were supposed to be a thing of the past.
"presiding overseers" were supposed to take over.. there seem to be certain people "in the know" that reveal information and it may sound very convincing-- but is it??.
do you tend to believe what new posters say if they tell us about "new light" from the organization?.

If Ynot doesn't post it, or my COBOE doesn't read it to me, then I don't trust it. Sometimes I wonder if some posters want change so bad within this organization that they start to just believe any ol nonsensible rumor put out there. By the way, you didn't hear this from me, but they're doing away with Auxiliary Pioneering starting 6/1/2011. From what my sources told me the higher ups feel that those Auxiliary Pioneering needed more encouragement to join the full time ranks, and that eliminating the Auxiliary option would be the best way to accomplish such. If you believe what I just posted, you're on dust.

I'm probably the biggest hypocrite for this post by the way, cuz I'm not the type of person you trifle with. However, as much as it would be nice to get a little get-back on your sister, it doesn't make it right. Personally speaking, I say take the higher road, and don't return evil with evil. This religion stresses and tears families apart. It's already affected your family relationships, and now you're considering whether or not to up the ante. I say let it go. It says alot about a person's character and self dignity when they resolve not to sink to the level of others.

December 15th WT gives example of sister who quit her job so she could go to an convention.
by life is to short ini was beyond mad when i heard this.
it is on page 30 of the wt.. it says "a pioneer named roxana is one who has seen how jehovah provides for his people.
when she asked her employer for permission to take some days off to attend one of our conventions, he angrily retorted that if she went, he would fire her.

This article is disturbing on so many levels. I mean its one thing to outright lie and fabricate an experience such as this. It's another thing entirely to insinuate that your readers should do something as irresponsible as quitting their job in order to attend the annual publication release convention. Especially in this economic enviroment, it irresponsible and dispicable.
