I'm interested.....but live in Flagstaff, where its cool right now....I'm moving to Phoenix in September for the winter. Yeah, its early for winter, I know. But that little magnet thingy in my brain that draws and directs me south for the winter hasn't been working right lately. But I'm always interested in good food, good beer, and good friends. So, keep me posted...

Lies about Suicides in Congregations
by EXMS inhave you ever noticed what the elders say when a depressed person commits suicide?.
i unfortunately knew of two people in my area, one a guy about my age, the other was in his mid 40's that commited suicide.
both times, at their memorials, the elders from stage said that they were home alone and was cleaning their hand gun/ rifle when it accidently fired and killed them.

We had a very good friend, a longtime Pioneer who killed herself, by intentional drug overdose, after she committed adultery with a Bible study. She left a husband and a little baby. In her suicide note, she said she couldn't face a judicial committee and the shame that came with it.

how often have you seen someone become a ministerial servant one year after baptism?

We used to say at Bethel a Spanish Elder could barely qualify as an English MS. The point being that a liberal understanding of the qualifications might be necessessary depending upon the need. The 'one year, resoanable meeting of the qualifications' is a very liberal take compared to the prior understanding.
As a new Elder, I can rememeber wanting to recommend a one year person and was read the riot act by the other Elders that it could ruin the brother being so soon. Things have changed. I guess "Desperate times call for desparate measusres"

Elder body removed Watchtower letter

Sheperd - Something similar happened in our congregation. Except it was one lone Elder standing up to the CO. The Elder was correct according to WT reasoning, but was removed for 'insubordination.' He just disagreed with the CO over a matter, that's all, and the CO had a fit. The rest of the Elder Body offered to stand up for him, but he admonished them to drop the support, it wasn't worth the trouble.
The CO met with the Elder privately and asked him to do the WTS a favor and 'just leave' the organization. He wasn't the type they wanted. He did.
To this day, I owe that CO my life.

I worked at Bethel and worked extensively with the RBC and supporting the International Building program......
Two points....One, there was incredible excitement about the expansion and how JG was speeding up the work. We were told we needed these buildings badly to handle the great gathering and now they are not needed. What happened to the great gathering? That excitement is gone as the WT is now in a contraction mode. People sacrificed a great deal to help build these branches that are now being sold or boarded up. Lett is not being very honest in saying what he did. And that's the point. Why can't the WT be honest and just admit the work and the results are slowing. But noo, "its speeding up, so we are closing these branches." That defies logic and is dishonest.The second point. Most of those in this part of the work were lousy in the witnessing side of the ministry but they wanted to do their part in the last days. Most are not proficient in the door to door WT ministry. They will not help the locals preach the WT message very well. Those involved in the building, Bethel work know this is true.
Any corporation officers that had to respond to its shareholders with these lies about its growth, would be facing jail time. (see Enron and others) But as we all know, the WT is exempt from punishment for lying to its members.
