"Are you ready for some football?! Are you ready to party?!....."
These lyrics of song uttered by Saint Hank Williams, as he is known to American NFL footbal fans, are more than just a song this morning. They are revered by 1,000's of USA JW's who will find excuses, not to attend Watchtower studies across the land.
"Honey, I think the kid is coming down with the Flu. You go to the meeting, I will volunteer to stay home with him."
For many of these Religio-Football Fanatics, its the dawn of a new day. A new day of the "sacred" NFL Football season. What could be more important than the opening kick off of the new season?
In Kingdom Halls throughout the land, attendance will be down. Today, there are only two kinds of JW's. Those who stayed home to see their team, and those wishing they stayed home to see their team.
Before Satan invented DVR's, faithful JW's that still went to meetings, because they had to. (example: like CO visiting, or you were giving the Public Talk) Used radios from their cars to check on scores. I can still remember vividly the speaker, right after his talk coming to me, the sound servant and asking. "What's the score?"
Understanding the importance of the Big Game, one CO started his final service talk with this question. (I swear on a stack of Watchtowers, this is the truth.) "Does anyone know the score?" You could see why the WTS appointed this man CO, he was smart. He knew, no one would pay attention to his talk if they were distracted with the game.
Amazingly, a bold and foolish MS raised his hand. (the Elders were to smart to raise the hands on this one, even though they new the score. This is why they are Elders and no longer MS's)
He gave the score and we all laughed. The CO said thank you, and then said he wanted to see him after the meeting. We all laughed again thinking he would be counseled, but really the CO only wanted the updated highlights.
Whether it be American Football, "Real Futbol" or Rugby. You know what I'm saying is true. To the JW's, the Kingdom is first and formost, except "On any Given Sunday"

So let me get this straight.
The Elders must protect the confidentiality of a "molester" in their midst, but..... a "rank and file" witness is supposed to publicize their confidentiality illegally?
Uh.....sounds right to me.
"Hipaa?! Hipaa?! I don't need no stinking Hipaa law! It don't apply to me! I only respect a much higher law. That of the Governing Body!"

The logistics of dealing with over 6 billion unburied corpses
by jambon1 indoes this ever cross the mind of your average jw?.
can you even begin to imagine what that would look like or even smell like?.
what about the effect of these scenes on the mind of children, even adults?.

The solution is so obvious, I can't believe I didn't see it earlier.
With all the food in the world being used up during the tribulation, why can't they just eat the corpses?
This would bring new meaning to Italian food. Um yummy!
Can we say, "Baby stew"?
I like Chinese myself.

Bible reading = Balaam has an intelligent conversation with his Donkey? Is this wierd?
by Witness 007 inthis weeks bible reading in numbers has balaam talking to his donkey like in the movie "shrek.
" what would a donkey say if it had human vocal cords?
probably: "carrots......moooore carrots.

When you read the account, it sounds like a made up PETA commercial, only without the naked girl.
But Donkeys have many useful purposes as well.....
"Legend has it that the cross on the donkey’s shoulders comes from the shadow of Christ’s crucifixion, placing the donkey at the foot of the cross. It was once believed that hair cut from this cross and hung from a child’s neck in a bag would prevent fits and convulsions." Has anyone tried this remedy? You can PM me if it works.
I've always viewed Balaam as some senile old man with no real clue as to what was going on. Similar to the GB of today.
Little known fact: Did you know that half the GB don't recognize themselves when they look into the mirror each morning. "Who are you?! Get out of my bathroom!! I'm calling the cops if you don't leave!"

she said she recieved a moonpig card from my mum saying you know I dont celebrate birthdays but I feel I must acknowledge this milestone in your life...
That is exactly what I did to my older Non-JW brother when he turned 50. He was surprised and told the rest of the Witness family. "___wished me a happy Birthday!" haha
My wifes biggest complaint about JW's. Its what they do to families. DF'd or not, they separate them.
My wife told me she was shopping for my Birthday gift today at the Dept store (I guess no surprise tomorrow)
A clerk, who was a witness said "Hi" and asked if she could help. My daughter said, (and knew exactly what she was doing) "its my dad's birthday!" The Witness's face went blank. lol
What IS wrong with sharing the joy of someone's birth? You tell me.
Wish you the best with your mum creative honey.

Dealing with a 'molested child' in a Judicial matter.
by dissed ini'm trying to respect the privacy of this individual, so forgive me if i'm a little too vague in my descriptions.. this for me, was the most emotional and difficult judicial matter that i have ever experienced.
its been many years since this happened and i'm still troubled, and troubled for this individual.. a young sister had committed fornication and i was chosen to sit on the judicial committee.. the case didn't make sense at first.
she was a faithful example in the congregation and was very much liked by all.

I want to apologize to all of you for making such a serious post so late in the evening and also for doing it when I had no allowed coments left to answer your thoughts.
Just a little more to help clarify.
This happened in the mid 1990's. Shortly after, about a year and half later, my wife and I left the JW's, moved out of the area, and of course lost contact with that congregation.
She never came back to any of the meetings while I was still there.
Apologizing?
Having had a first-hand experience how deep the scars of molestation can be, I would worry that a card or letter could re-open some very deep wounds in her. She may be very happy now with life on the outside of the WTS. I wouldn't want to bring back to her so much hurtful memories.
As AK-Jeff said, I shared this as a warning to others, what this org. does to people. We and others who have done hurtful things are just a product of their teachings.
I'm hoping as some stated, that this was good for her, leaving the JW's. She was NEVER going to get the help she really needed if she stayed, only ostrasizism.
What she needed from us, was 'unconditional love', that's all. And we were not permitted to give it.
Someday, maybe I will run into her. And maybe she will let me talk to her. And maybe she will let me hold and hug her. Something we should have done 14 years ago.

I'm trying to respect the privacy of this individual, so forgive me if I'm a little too vague in my descriptions.
This for me, was the most emotional and difficult Judicial matter that I have ever experienced. Its been many years since this happened and I'm still troubled, and troubled for this individual.
A young sister had committed fornication and I was chosen to sit on the Judicial committee.
The case didn't make sense at first. She was a faithful example in the congregation and was very much liked by all. Why did she suddenly and for no apparrent reason go off and do something so wrong?
As we could see, she was very much emotionally troubled. It was like something we had never seen in her before. After a few questions and listening to her, it became obvious as to why the change. She was molested as a child and something recently triggered her now emotional state.
Unwittingly, I was partly responsible.
I was studying with a man who was progressing and coming to the meetings. He was sharing in service and was planning on Baptism. As she brought to our attention during the Judicial meeting, he was the one who molested her some years ago. She was deeply troubled and in turmoil the more he advanced.
You could see her security, comfort and protection of the congregation that she previously felt was gone.
After our first meeting with her, I asked the other brothers if they knew about this, the molester? Too my surprise, both knew, as well as all the Elders did, except me. Being new on the body, I wasn't told, even though I was studying with the man. Besides, the man had been convicted, served time in prison, and they felt he was okay.
The hardest decision.
She wasn't repentant, there was almost anger in her voice as she talked. So you know what that means in Jehovah's organization? We had to disfellowship her according to the WTS instructions. This would separate her from the family of the congregation which she needed. We couldn't make the decision to do it.
One brother suggested I call the Circuit Overseer for assistance, which I did. His advice? He felt deeply about the situation, but told us we MUST do the right thing and DF her.
That night, neither of us slept at all. We all felt this would devastate her, perhaps to the point of suicide. We actually all cried with tears as we made the decision. I was asked to take the lead in discussing with her our decision. Neither of the other two said they could talk because it hurt so much.
I know many of you will be angry hearing this story that I've kept inside for many years. But understand, this is what the WTS does to its followers. It forces us to become loveless, non-sympathetic, non-compassionate and forget entirely what Jesus meant when he talked about the little sheep in our midst.
According to the WTS, we had to protect the congregation from this unfortunate soul. Who really, what all she needed was our kind assistance, not our scorn and rebuke.
According to the WTS, we must keep things confidential to protect the rights of others. Right.
I hope she turned out okay. I never heard what happened to her later. I fear it was just a false hope I had to make me feel better inside.
