Hey Sweet,
For us we held out, but it was hard. We got heavy at times but made it. My friends said we were making them sick, we was so luby duby. This was 1976, have things changed now?

i've had him a week today.
he's quite a character.
he's hyper, likes to chirp, and has a habit of grabbing the long wooden swing you see in this picture and banging against the purch and the side of the cage.
I've got two Parrots, an African Grey, Tarzan, who you would think she's demonized, she's so smart.
The other is an Amazon, Pat - Patty, who IS demonized. If she/he gets out of her/his cage, he/she walks around the house trying to kill me.
Teaching them to talk: Say and repeat a word or phrase before you put them to bed at night. They dwell on it all night.
Birds love curse words because they get a reaction out of you. So be careful.
Our other Parrot who died recently was raised when we were JW's so knew a ton of WT stuff. I hated to hear him say, "Jehovah is God! Jehovah is God!"
Have fun with the little bugger.
i was in homedepot (hardware store) the other morning and i noticed two jw spanish brothers making the rounds, in the store.
they stood out to me because they were wearing suits, ties, and one was wearing an overcoat to carry literature.
(this is the summer here).
Should we be calling you 'Wobble the Rude?' lol
I did it as well, but will admit, it was almost always about time necessasity. We would never think of 6 AM street witnessing or midnight laundrymats if it wasn't for the "I have to get my time' stuff.
When the movie 'Airplane' came out espousing JW's witnessing at an airport and getting beat up by Robert Stack, has to be the wish of many a people. "Hi yah!" as he flips the JW to the ground.
i'm not talking about the incalculable cost of wasted lives, etc.. i'm mainly thinking about actual out-of-pocket accounting cost to the wtb&ts.
raw materials, labor (yes labor, it's not quite free even though some seem to think so), utilities, shipping, etc.. my gut says about $.30 us.
but i have crunched no numbers nor done any research.. anyone else?.
I remember as a Pioneer we could buy them at wholesale prices and use the profit to buy donuts and coffee for sustaining nourishment.
its friday, and you know what that means?.
its time for the weekly tradition of sharing what your name means and why you chose it.. there has to be a reason, and it must reveal to us something special about you.. sure this post has probably been run by the forum before, but many of us are new here, and 'by golly, we need to get to know you all better.'.
even if you are using your real name, why and the heck are you using it?
Leo
Herbert Armstrong?
We liked the son, Garner Ted, kicked out for 'covert philandering'. Now that's a good theocratic term for DF'y someone. "Brother so 'n so has been disfellowshipped for covert philandering."
A lot of the JW's thought he was using WT pubs for his talks.

"We're on a mission from God!"
By buddy, a former Catholic fell on the floor laughing when the penguins floated away. "That's exactly how we felt about them!"
if you've been reading here for long, this won't come as news to you.. i don't have my elder book with me right now, but here's the gist of what it says about what the elders should do when they find out a jw talked to a dfed family member.. 'generally, disfellowshiping is not necessary when a congregation member speaks to a close relative who is dfed.
provided there is no condoning or justifying of the wrong course.'.
that is a paraphrase, but i'm pretty sure that "justifying of the wrong course" is close to verbatim.. two questions:.
The Elders are given much lattitude and flexibilty both ways in approaching the situation.
Some may just get a kind admonishing to be careful, while others, if caught looking at an Elder the wrong way when admonished, may get involved with a JC.
As Dissed says, "It all depends what time of the month it is for the Elder. Is he on his period or not?"

You would normally never see JW's approaching customers in a store. It would be viewed as quite disrespectful and rude to the customers, bothering them while IN the store shopping, as well as to the store management. Usually the JW's are permitted to stand outside the store.
But they were approaching spanish speaking ones, so the store management people wouldn't know what they were doing. They were doing it on the sly.
Being forced on by JW's needing time early in the morning doesn't surpise me, but in a store does.
When you are in the movement, maybe you don't notice how bad it looks, especially when you need time.
Care to share any of your rude moments when preaching?
a recent asleep and a 80's brouchure somebodys reject from spring cleaning no doubt.felt good to trash them and cover them in dryer lint :-).

Putting stickers on the mags? Clever girl you are.
When I see them in my doctors office I take 'n toss.
this is huge (to me).
my wife won't clink glasses.
she won't watch anything r-rated or any shows/movies with a mystical or religious theme or undertone.

It was my take, it was a 'conscience rule'. Something to judge others by which the JW's are so good at.
To get in trouble, you would have to do some sort of worship. like take communion.
