  its time for the weekly tradition of sharing what your name means and why you chose it.. there has to be a reason, and it must reveal to us something special about you.. sure this post has probably been run by the forum before, but many of us are new here, and 'by golly, we need to get to know you all better.'.

  don't let any of the watchtower's propaganda deceive you.

  i encountered some private conversations among witnesses about the subject and it's ugly.

  yes, there is suffering as many of these victims try to live on charity and can't find jobs in the worst economy since the depression.. some of their private observations include shock that you need a college degree for nearly any job and that the watchtower society couldn't have picked a worse time to do this to them .. all the while these complaints are discussed, i try not to show that i am astounded by their bizarre "logic".

  How much time before U.S. persecution starts?

  i was reading barbara anderson's recent entry on free minds, and it made me think--the society's recent maneuvers in real estate, moving things to canada, etc.

  does this mean jws in the u.s. will be facing problems from the government soon?

  if so, is anyone knowledgeable enough to give an educated guess as to how soon this might happen?.

  I heard if they didn't donate money to, support the DNC and Obama they would be in trouble. jk

  They are in trouble if they get taxed would be my thinking, but so would all religions. And to do that, it would take years through the courts to get it settled. So just my spec...

  Prejudice in the Kingdom Hall.

  have you ever noticed how in the kingdom halls who have a mix of races, you find the whites sit in one area of the kingdom hall, and the blacks have their own section?

  the district conventions and circuit assemblys too.

  i've noticed one particular section where there were just black people who made up about 20% of the dc and the rest were white.

  At Bethel, I didn't experience any racial predudice. But I did notice when people had their free time many would segregate when they messed around.

  In my Brooklyn Congregation, everyone got along great.

  My dept. overseer would always kid that we needed a Black GB member. Once he teased Br. Booth asking when were we going to get a black GB (I almost fainted) and Booth told him to apply and they laughed.

  Apprehension about the holidays

  so...i've been feeling a tightness in my chest thinking about the upcoming holiday season.

  you know, october = halloween; november=thanksgiving; december=christmas, etc.

  i'm not sure how to approach them with my dub (for those who don't know, i'm a non-jw, never have been one, never will be).

  A friend of mine's husband was not a JW and he made her do all the stuff. Decorating, cooking, etc...and she did it with the blessing of the Elders.

  Its not that unusual to have a divided household on these things. I wouldn't go crazy, and stuff it down his throat, but have fun, create those memories with the whole family.

  Even for me it took a few years to get over the Xmas thing. Now I don't even think about it being wrong, and can really enjoy it. He will too in time.

  That's interesting. Can't wait to see how that turns out.

  I'm very careful what I say here when I share an experience, not ready to handle all the stress with two Elders coming to my door to finalize my exit.

  I've recornized one person here for sure, but still respect their privacy.

  It would be funny if everyone in the congregations were thinking the same way. All have left but afraid to go public.

  Love sci fi with end of the world scenarios

  Panic in the year zero was the first that made me think. Even Mad Max has a place in my heart.

  Some of the new stuff is trash like Day After. At least make it possible and don't preach weak biased politoco thoughts.

  My fav writer is Ray Bradbury, love his works and reread them when I get a chance. Unfortunately, his books never translated well to the movies.

  we just had a minor earhquake 12 hours ago....as we did in march and i'm thinking......whatever!.

  obama starting "peace and security" talks with israel and palastine, and i think..........whatever!.
