what does the speaker do when pronouncing the mandatory baptismal talk?
he says the questions (that have to be asnwered), and answers with a "yes" to all showing people what the due answer would have to be!
I was baptized in '72. We had 16 from just our congregation baptized at the CA.
The questions were handled as a group, like a classroom.
Most of them have left, maybe all. Have not been in touch since we left.
So, hardly anyone is getting baptized? I wonder why?
it hasn't been till the last couple of months that i have even given a passing thought to jw apologists.
as welcome as they are to post their opinions, i am struck by something that i recognize in myself and others as i reflect on my jw past.. basically, there comes a certain point, where if you are going to stay a jw and you are of a bit more "liberal" mindset, that you will try to change the focus a bit.. i recall this happened to me.
as a ms, i was very gung ho for most jw dogma and ways of dealing with people.

"Brothers, we have 0 baptismal candidates. Its a sign we are close to the end!"
20 years ago......"Brothers, we have 50 baptismal candidates. Its a sign from JG we are close to the end!"

it's time for my weekly sunday afternoon rant.. my story starts with my daughter seven years ago when she was 11. even though we were not associating anymore, we would let her stay with her jw grand parents and jw cousins some distance away for overniters.. coming back from a visit, she was noticeably reserved.
she told my wife at bedtime, she never wanted to go back and visit grandma.
they had told her we would not be in the new order.

I hate the WT material, brings back bad memories (was conductor for years) lol, but I appreciate very much your objective analyisis of the material. Its very refreshing to not just blindly swallow what's given us by the GB.
My question for them: If you really believe the message could save ones from Armageddon, then why would it be so hard to deliver it at the door?
As one rspected CO we knew said. It has to be the toughest job on the planet. Not because its dangerous, but so boring. I thinks that's the real problem for the JW's. Its not productive, it is boring, and doesn't really require any special boldness. More like endurance because of the monotomy.

I've known many who claimed to be of the annointed. Two were very nice, but two were the haughtiest people I have ever met. Still they had priviledges. Both were COs'.
Another 'annointed one' stole $6,000 from us, claiming he needed it and we were rich, so it was ok. The Elders asked me to forgive him, even though he had no plans to pay it back. Only my threat to call the police got some action.
But of course we all know 10-12 in Bethel that have been responsible for the death of 1,000's of children over the blood issue. Nice guys, uh?! Makes you feel warm and fuzzy all over, doesn't it?
this episode was filmed last summer in my area and was a big deal while the production crew was in town.
kind of neat to see the finished product.

Yeah, our friends call them "drive by shootings" people stop, get out and take a picture. And yes, they give tours and are happy to do so. Some, people have been so inspired they stop to give some very nice gifts.

The point I'm trying to make is the attitude being shown by JW's who follow the GB admonishing of shunning. They not only follow it, but justify it by how they treat family members.
We have never shut them out of their grand daughters life. They, like I said, after the incident, have NEVER even communicated with her. It was always one sided, ours having our child visit. If they don't love their grand child to even try to communicate, what should we do, force them to?
My daughter has responded appropiately by a unloving JW. They don't care for her and why? Because they are good, and loyal JW's. She has reacted to their unloving, lack of any real attention.
Yeah, its a crappy situation. But how do you reason with people so blinded by the GB if they refuse to even listen?
