i watched forrest gump the other day.
it is no surprise it is one of the most successful movies of all time, i haven't tired of it :).
anyhow, toward the end of the film as gump speaks to jenny's grave the words made me think of jws and the wt.. jenny, i don't know if momma was right or if, if it's lieutenant dan.
I related to Forest, Forest Gump because of the Vietnam War era stuff. That was my time.
Trivia? One of the jogging scenes was filmed in our territory. Some of those jogger extras you saw were JW's from our congregation. haha Hey, it didn't pay much, but it beat going in service for them.

the funeral was today.
i thought it would never be over.
My mother in law passed away this year. She asked me to take the lead and say something at her service.
I had very heart rendering discussions with her bedside. I listened carefully, then came back to talk about it some more.
She had some specific requests.
Don't offend anybody. We have various feelings in the family, from Lutherans(her) to JW's. She wanted me to show consideration to others.
When it came to a prayer, I asked her if it was okay to have the JW say it? She was very firm, no. "He would use the occassion to preach" She was right.
After she passed away, I interviewed everyone in the family for requests. All had some nice ideas, except for the JW's. She was to have a JW service period!
I informed them of her wishes and they replied, she was gone, she wouldn't know, and the family needed it. One third of the family are ex-JW's.
They wanted to use the occassion to recruit. To recruit them back.
I shared their ideas with the other siblings. It was firmly rejected by all. The JW's said then they would not come. I told them as respectfully as I could, we wanted them there, but they were not coming to mom's service.
They reconsidered and came, but complained loudly as I was speaking on how stupid this was, the wife walked out. Yup, they was recruiting alright.
What a fine witness for their god. Did you ever hear me say how self righteous the good JW's are?

Okay, I'm bringing this back. Yes its new to me but explains something I heard 33 years ago.
While camping with two Canadian families, both well-founded in the JW's. They shared one evening a story about "Percy's boy's". One of the fathers, an Elder noticed my amazement, and said it was only hearsay, but his wife said, "That's not what you told me," and laughed.
The point is, it was common knowledge to the JW's, in the know, from Toronto.
Now, this all makes sense to me.

our friend who was one of the annointed has died, i cried so much but then i was excited knowing shes in heaven meeting apostle paul, peter and brother knorr etc....wow how great is that :).
unsure how many are left though :((.

That's how I look at it as well when you see someone lieing like AE. I answer for the others who are watching. People like her open the door for those watching to see more clearly what the JW's are all about.

Shortening the meetings wont solve the problem. Its the quality that sucks.
They are not for families, as is evident from everyones comments.
Public talks? Are you kidding me? It takes endurance to get through one.
WT study? True some will comment, but before and after, few ever talk about the content.
School and Service meetings: Like a prison sentence to kids. "Do we have to go!"
Yes, there are solutions. Separate classes for kids with the sisters teaching? Do you think they would do a good job or what? And the kids would actually look forward to the meetings.
Will they ever learn?

Who believes all those stories anyways in Genesis? As my Bethel overseer used to say in trying to explain them. Then he would laugh. He eventually became a WT writer. Not kidding.
If Genesis IS true, then the Heaven doctrine is the only one that makes any sense, no? Of course, that brings up some questions about the Apostle's belief in the need for the ransom sacrifice. But that's a question for another day.
But I guess if you can believe it was okay for Abraham to sacrifice Issaac, then it would be okay for JG to kill Enoch.
in indiana, a grandma bought cold medicine for her husband.
within a 7 day period, the same woman bought her adult daughter a similar cold relief medicine.
evidently, there's a law there saying you can't buy more than 3 grams of these meds within a 7 day period.
All three of us had colds and I told the wifey to buy two Nyquils. The Safeway refused stating store policy limiting one per visit. Sam's Club sells them in two packs. How irresponsible of the Club?! lol
