In my opinion this approach opens the eyes of newly interested ones.
Iam sure every congregation will receive a big pledge. I hope for every big pledge the other side of the coin equals a doubt in someones mind.

last night during the service meeting a letter was read indicating that more money was needed by jehovah's witnesses in order to expand the world-wide work .
it was suggested that each publisher take a piece of paper and write down the amount of money they would be willing to give and hand it to the elders.
it seems to be a cleverway to gather "seed money" by the organization while not calling it a "tithe.

its been a while since i've posted, i've been swamped.
btu a question came up today at work and i could think of no better place to answer that question than here at jwd.. in the lord's prayer it says " lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil" ok so the question is why does it say not to lead us into temptation when god wouldn't lead his children into temptation?.
now in my opinion this is just another typo that proves that men wrote the bible.
Psacramento. Why would God lead us into temptation?
I always had difficult giving thanks for my daily bread. I mean it was the government of my country that provided that. What about the starving millions that could not receive a answer from that request?

dear all,.
around three weeks ago, one of you (i think it was bohm) posted a link with a superbly written thesis attempting to prove yahweh as depicted in the old testament doesn't exist.
i'm nearly through with it (it's thick and parts of it are beyond my understanding, but it's fascinating).
Goldensky. If power is defined as the "capacity to bring about change" maybe God LOST his power a long long time ago-

witnesses teach that when you learn the "truth", you finally have a purpose in life.. when some witnesses decide to leave the religion, they might experience an emptiness because they realize now that their way of life really was totally a sham.. are jehovah's witnesses right about those that leave the organization no longer having a purpose in life?.
Minimus. Simply answering your post gives my life a purpose.

my frequent walks these last few years about the neighborhood so familiar to me would ordinarily be construed a pleasant enough non-event.
a little mild exercise - taken in small doses to keep the joints operating properly - and a keen eye peeled for the ever-changing face of nature have rendered the daily promenade a suitable diversion.
until recently.
Hi Compound and Complex
Thanks for the kind reply-I look forward to communicating more in the new year.
Have a Great Christmas .

if i should ask this to a relative jw.... - why should god need a human organisation on earth anyway?.
what answer will i get?
any scripts that they probably will show up to support this thinking?.
It depends on where they get their sources.
According to one Wathtower this organisation started ¨with Adam & Eve.
What I would say to any responce I got would be "Well that explains it" and leave it at that.

Hi Compound and Complex-
When I read anything I always think regardless of what has been written I can tell if the writter likes people.
To me this is the key to writting-I think this is the greatest skill a writter can learn. To like and write for his readers.
Having followed your posts It is ovbiouse to me you like people.
This may seem a silly comment. But many well written books sit on the shelfs of libarys never to be read because the author thought himself above his reader.
I enjoy your posts and the greatest compliment I can give you is I dont like your writting style but I still enjoy reading your stories.

this is not a study article but i thought it was interesting that the wt felt the need to write an article about whether it was worth learning either hebrew or greek to study the bible.. here are some select quotes from this article.... .
the majority of people who read the bible today do not understand hebrew or greek.
rather, they need to use a translation of the bible in their own language.

Hi ..Iam from the UK-I now live in Sweden-When I was pretentiouse enough to think I spoke fluent Swedish I lost a lot of money not understanding the business Swedish language.(Law)
Any person who thinks that they are self-taught in Hebrew or Greek and attempts to translate the bible from the origional Greek or Hebrew is deluded.
I cant even contemplate how a person can write a paragraph and assume the reader will get the full gist of what he tried to communicate.

Hi Blacksheep
I know the translators names and that they couldnt speak Greek or Hebrew-(I was a Witness)
Iam in an area where my witness history is not known-But I must admit I like to watch them squirm from such a simple request:

i've been looking in the watchtower library all morning and can't find anything.. i know that jws have this rule (is it unwritten??
) where a brother and a sister should not be left alone in a car, a house, or any private place.
but my jw father says it's not so, and he spent a part of yesterday installing a computer program at a jw couple's house while the man was at work and the wife was at home.
I must say
I had a very progressive study with a lady who came regularly to the K.H I was never asked to give the studt to a sister .
I also bought a girl to the meeting from work. I remember a stupid sister made a silly comment. (I was a new brother my wife only attended occasionally) The elders never mentiond how inapropriate this was-
Looking back on this I never understood this. All I can think was I had 3 progressive studies comming to the K.H and they were the only studies comming to the hall.
Now Iam out Iam pleased none are witnesses and Iam friends with them all.
